Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.

Closer Chaos

Justin Lawrence was placed on the IL with a shoulder strain. Lawrence recently lost the closer job to Jalen Beeks, but this should give Beeks a longer leash.

Quick Hits

Ronald Acuna was placed on the IL with an ACL tear. Acuna will miss the rest of the season with the injury. Adam Duvall will likely pick up more playing time in his absence.

Chris Bassitt left his start on Monday with neck spasms. This doesn’t sound overly serious, but keep an eye on it.

Cristin Javier was placed on the IL with a forearm strain. The Astros have characterized the issue as minor, but this is rarely a good sign.

Jorge Polanco was placed on the IL with a hamstring strain. There is no timetable for his return.

LaMonte Wade left Monday’s game with a hamstring injury. He is expected to undergo further testing on Tuesday. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes</strong >
Jose Miranda went 1-for-3 with a home run in the victory over the Royals on Sunday.

Miranda has been great since getting called up, hitting .279/.313/.467 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 128 plate appearances. He is playing every day right now and should be rostered in most leagues.

Davis Schneider went 1-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the White Sox.

Schneider has hit six home runs with three stolen bases this year, but he struggles to make consistent contact this season. He does walk at a 13% rate which is great, but until he can make better contact, he will have massive ups and downs.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Matt Waldron vs MIA

Always hard to trust a knuckleballer, but he has a great matchup and has pitched well.

High Risk Options: Dane Dunning vs ARI, Hunter Brown at SEA, Simeon Wood Richardson vs KC, Griffin Canning vs NYY, Tylor Megill vs LAD, Jake Irvin at ATL, Ben Brown at MIL, Ryan Feltner vs CLE, Mitch Spence at TB.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: None

Not a ton of great options on a shorter slate.

High Risk Options: Logan Allen at COL, Bryse Wilson vs CHC, Frankie Montas vs STL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Schneider’s SwStr% is 10.4 – doesn’t seem exhorbitant? The chase rate is low. He’s running a 26% K% which is a tick high but not crazy out of whack. The barrel % after 300 PA in the majors is consistently mid-teens. Seems like a good profile for a $1 / waiver wire guy?
