Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.

Closer Chaos

Jalen Beeks threw two-thirds of an inning versus the A’s, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one in the blown saves on Thursday. Beeks has now blown two consecutive saves. The Rockies closer job isn’t a hugely coveted one for fantasy but it appears that it could change again soon.

Quick Hits

Jon Gray was placed on the IL with a groin strain. The Rangers have called the injury mild, so hopefully this won’t be much longer than a minimum stay.

John Means was placed on the IL with a forearm strain. This is disappointing news as this often ends in Tommy John surgery. There is no timetable for his return.

Esteury Ruiz was placed on the IL with a wrist strain. There is no timetable for his return. Daz Cameron was called up to take his place on the roster.

Jose Trevino left Thursday’s game due to being sick. This doesn’t sound serious, so consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
JJ Bleday went 1-for-6 with a home run in the victory over the

Bleday is hitting .243/.315/.459 with seven home runs. He is walking at a 10% rate and striking out less than 20% of the time. Bleday won’t play versus lefties often, but can be maximized in deeper formats as a strong side platoon bat.

Ryan Feltner threw six scoreless innings versus the A’s, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six in the no-decision on Thursday.

Feltner did a great job of mixing pitches, throwing all five of his pitches at least 10% of the time or more. His fastball was spotted pretty well, getting a 31% CSW. He has actually been better at home than on the road this season, so he is difficult to trust considering pitching at Coors is a risk.

Matt Chapman went 2-for-5 with a home run in the victory over the Pirates on Thursday.

Chapman struggled to start the season, but has been great in May hitting .289/.379/.526 with four home runs and two stolen bases. He is hitting the ball extremely hard and is keeping the strikeout rate at a good level. He may have been dropped in leagues after the rough start and could be a decent pick up at the hot corner.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: None

Some good high risk options, but none that I feel comfortable with.

High Risk Options: Braxton Garrett at ARI, Logan Allen at LAA, Patrick Sandoval vs CLE.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Trevor Williams vs SEA

Williams has pitched well and faces a Mariners offense that has not been great versus right handed pitching this year.

High Risk Options: Jose Soriano vs CLE, JP Sears vs HOU, Michael Lorenzen at MIN.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
