Closer Chaos

Reed Garrett threw two scoreless innings versus the Marlins to register his second save of the season on Sunday. Edwin Diaz has been struggling so Garrett is starting to get more high leverage work. This is quickly turning into a committee.

Quick Hits

Adolis Garcia was scratched from the lineup on Sunday with a forearm issue. MRI showed no structural damage which is good news. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes

Chris Paddack threw eight innings versus the Guardians, allowing two earned runs on three hits and no walks in the no-decision on Sunday.

Paddack struggled to start the season, but he has been better as of late relying on a great changeup and a newly added slider, both of which had a 30+% whiff rate versus Cleveland. He had been a top 25 pitcher earlier in his career, but struggled with injuries since. If he can continue this pitch mix, he could be back on his way to breaking out again.

Alek Manoah threw seven scoreless innings versus the Rays, allowing one hit and one earned run while striking out seven in the victory on Sunday.

This was the best Manoah has looked in two years, with the fastball being commanded very well and getting a 38% CSW and the slider doing the same. It is hard to trust Manoah after last season, but he was a top tier starter in 2022 and the talent is still there if he can command his pitches well.

Heliot Ramos went 1-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Rockies on Sunday.

Ramos is a former top prospect that has struggled to be productive at the Major League level. He is getting an opportunity now with both Jung Hoo Lee 이정후 and Michael Conforto out with injuries. He needs regular playing time to be a fantasy relevant player which is going to be hard once Conforto returns because it is unlikely he can unseat either corner outfielder in San Francisco unless he is really good.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Joe Ross at MIA

Ross isn’t a great pitcher, but the matchup in a good park is juicy enough to stream.

High Risk Options: Mitchell Parker vs MIN, Ben Lively 라이블리 vs NYM, Ryan Weathers vs MIL, Tylor Megill at CLE.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Robert Gasser at MIA

It is surprising to see Gasser so lowly rostered at this point and add in this matchup and it is an easy stream.

High Risk Options: Alec Marsh vs DET, Griffin Canning at HOU, Cal Quantrill at OAK, Cooper Criswell at TB, Aaron Brooks 브룩스 vs COL.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
