Joey Gallo keeps hitting the ball, and he’s hitting the ball hard. His .188 batting average this season is kind of joke sitting next to his .500 slugging average, but he does have 13 home runs in 42 games and he’s showing more discipline at the plate. But you really can’t get worse than a 63.3% strikeout rate he left behind him last season.

News and Notes
–Albert Pujols gave us some great news in regards to his latest MRI on his hamstring. The Orange County Register reported Pujols’ MRI came back clean. He had some hamstring issues but should be back in the lineup Saturday and by the latest, Sunday.
–Justin Turner’s news about a possible hamstring injury is turning into a trip to the disabled list. Dave Roberts announced he will more than likely place him on the D.L. The team promoted Brett Eibner, but the outfielder could just be used as a placeholder until Turner comes back.
–Jeremy Hellickson was feeling some tightness in his back following Friday’s outing against Pittsburgh, but the good news is it’s not looking like anything serious and he should be fine for his next start. But pay attention to the Phillies news just in case.
–Josh Donaldson’s Twitter game isn’t being impacted by his injury, but his recovery from a strained right calf is taking a bit longer to come back from than we anticipated. He’s creeping closer to his rehab assignment though.
-You know I love Ryan Goins. He will continue taking over at shortstop in Troy Tulowitzki’s absence. Tulo is still doing well in his rehab assignments, it just seems he needs more outings before he’s back in a major league uniform.
Ander-SON
I always get nervous over a Colorado Rockies pitcher, and when it comes to Tyler Anderson, it’s a lot like a box of chocolates.
Friday, he earned his third win of the season when he struck out seven batters in six innings. He had just four balls hit off of him in the win over the Reds.
Anderson has a 9.19 K/9 rating with a 3.96 SIERA and has taken off a huge chunk from his groundballs this season. Bats are hitting more flyballs off of him, but that 25.6% home run to flyball ratio is kind of gross.
There’s no hard contact rate behind him, and some of those surface stats could make you turn your nose, but that strikeout to walk rate makes him an interesting play.
Probable DFS Pitchers
Vince Velasquez @ Pittsburgh Pirates
Max Scherzer @ Atlanta Braves (and all of the teams)
Mike Fiers vs Cleveland Indians
Carlos Martinez vs. San Francisco Giants
Justin Verlander vs. Texas Rangers
Robbie Ray @ San Diego Padres
I wonder how many saw the writer, clicked on the article, and studied it so closely looking for any mistake or oversight to absolutely rip to shreds down here.
who cares?
Not me. I came here looking for insight into Gallo’s slugging average, and I got it!
Currently that number stands at zero, JuanPierreSquad, but to be fair it has only been up half a day. I wonder how many, like you, opened the article hoping to find some unfair comments to disparage, only to leave disappointed that you didn’t have an opportunity to broadcast your righteousness. Still, you found found a rather creative way around that problem by criticizing *anticipated* comments. So kudos to you for that.
And I say this as someone who has consistently enjoyed these riteups and have indicated as much in the comments.
I have enjoyed them too, which is why I wanted to take the air out of what has been a weekend tradition lately before it got started. Too bad it didn’t stay at zero. The rest of your psychological diagnosis based on my post is unnecessary.
Honestly, unless it’s by Cameron, Cistulli, or Sullivan, all the authors meld together for me.
