Closer Chaos

Luke Jackson left Monday’s game after being hit with a line drive.

X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Quick Hits

Dane Myers was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. He will likely miss 4-to-6 weeks.

Ben Lively 라이블리 left Monday’s game with forearm inflammation.

This is disappointing as Lively was on a two-start week and had been pitching well. These injuries sometimes lead to Tommy John surgery, so consider him day-to-day for now, but be prepared to drop him.

Various News and Notes
Chase Dollander threw six innings against the Rangers, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks while striking out seven in the loss.

Dollander was great in the outing with only one real bad mistake that cost him a two-run home run to Wyatt Langford. His stuff is great, but he struggles with command and control at times and pitching in Colorado doesn’t help. He is best served in leagues where you can stream him on the road.

The Diamondbacks called top prospect Jordan Lawlar to the Majors on Monday. He is expected to play second, shortstop, and third and should start 4-5 times a week. He has been great in AAA, hitting .336/.413/.579 with six home runs and 13 stolen bases in 173 plate appearances. If he hits out of the gate, he should find himself playing every day.

The Cubs are calling up Moisés Ballesteros from AAA on Tuesday. Ballesteros was hitting .368/.420/.522 with four home runs and three stolen bases this year. He should mostly DH for the Cubs and his bat should play at the Major League level, but he could lose catcher eligibility for future seasons as he is not great behind the plate.

Pitching well recently? In his last four starts, Rodriguez has given up 21 runs in 18 2/3 innings.
