Various News and Notes
Raisel Iglesias will not be making his start today against the Buccos, and it’s entirely possible he’ll need a stint on the disabled list. Iglesias has a slight shoulder problem, and in a rebuilding year, the Reds should be cautious. Tim Adleman will make his major league debut and start in the place of Iggy.
The chatter about a Ryan Braun trade is starting to pick up. Braun is giving the Brew Crew a chance to sell high at the moment, and while he has the ability to veto a trade to most teams, one imagines he’d be open to moving to a contender. Should Braun be moved, don’t expect his replacement in Milwaukee to provide any fantasy value, unless they’re willing to push Brett Phillips to the majors.
Through two starts, Kevin Gausman has essentially doubled his slider usage compared to the past three years. While his swinging strike rate is down thus far, increased confidence in his offspeed offering could help him against right-handed hitters. So far, Gausman has struck out 10 batters in 11 innings of work.

A pitcher for today: Ricky Nolasco vs DET (Mike Pelfrey)
You know who’s been surprisingly competent this year? Ricky Nolasco.
A pitcher for tomorrow: Nate Karns at OAK (Kendall Graveman)
Karns has looked better his past two outings, and even though he’s away from home, Oakland is a fine place to pitch.
