Roto Riteup: June 6th, 2012
Do you know how hard it is to find things to put in the Roto Riteup when all everyone is worried about is the draft? It’s really hard.
• We talked about Daniel Bard earlier this week, notably how I thought his career as a starter was over. The Red Sox may disagree, as they’ve sent him to Triple-A instead of straight back to the bullpen. It’s entirely possible that Boston wants him in the minors to make sure he’s still a dominant reliever before throwing him into a late game situation, but many are guessing that they’re going to continue to give him a chance to start. If you ask me, I think he’ll be back in the Red Sox bullpen by the All-Star break.
• When I go to bed at night, I dream of Giancarlo Stanton continuing to hit .295 while mashing monster taters. If Stanton can figure out a way to keep this up, he’s easily a top-10 fantasy commodity.
• If you’re looking for a draft pick who could slide quickly through his new team’s system, look no further than Kevin Gausman of the Baltimore Orioles. I doubt Gausman sees the bigs this year — at least not as a starter — but he could easily make his debut sometime during 2013.
• Desmond Jennings is back from the DL, as is Carlos Santana. Get excited and adjust your lineups accordingly.
For those of you who play daily fantasy games like FanGraphs: The Game, or just like to stream players, here are a couple matchups you may be able to exploit.
A Pitcher for Today: Clayton Richard vs SFG
Richard at home is a tasty treat.
A Pitcher for Tomorrow: Clay Buchholz vs BAL
I like Baltimore’s offense, but I’d still bet on Buchholz pulling out a win against Brian Matusz.
A Hitter for Today: Chris Young vs COL (Josh Outman)
Young at home against a lefty? Sure thing, hoss.

I’m streaming Richard today in a fairly deep league, but not too happy about it. Yes, Petco against the Giants, but he’s going against a pitcher that is much better than he is (bad for getting the W), and he’s not likely to K a ton of batters. If they’re available in your league, I would take Paulino, Williams, or Scherzer over Richard.
