Rehab assignments galore!
Everyone’s on a rehab assignment. Did you know you’re on a rehab assignment? If not, your front office lacks communication and I’d file a complaint with HR.
Matt Moore’s next rehab start will be with the Rays High-A affiliate and will come on either next Monday or Tuesday. Moore won’t be ready for at least another couple weeks, but he’ll be up around the end of the month and is worth stashing if you can.
Mat Latos will next the mound on Monday for his Triple-A rehab appearance and have a nearly full workload. If he can get through the start without re-injuring his knee, he’ll be back up at the end of next week.
Wil Myers will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso tomorrow and should be back with the Padres by next weekend. Will Venable has played well in Myers’ absence, so perhaps the veteran outfielder will continue to see some playing time at the expense of Yonder Alonso.
Lastly, Doug Fister will begin his rehab assignment in the next few days. Fister will probably need a trio of rehab outings, so he’ll be up around the last week of the month.
Various news and notes
Staying with the injury theme, Howie Kendrick hopes to be out just a day or two with his knee injury. The Dodgers simply benched him last night instead of sticking him on the DL, so there’s hope that he won’t need to be on the shelf that long.
Matt Wieters made his 2015 debut yesterday. The Orioles are rightly limiting his workload for now, so he’s more of a DFS play at the moment. Expect Wieters to catch about every-other-day for at least the next couple of weeks, and maybe even until the All-Star break.
Casey McGehee was recalled by the Giants, but don’t expect him to work his way back into the starting lineup. Matt Duffy will remain San Francisco’s third baseman, with McGehee perhaps getting some platoon ABs at first base along with pinch-hit duties.
The Mets are now without both David Wright and Daniel Murphy after the second baseman was placed on the DL yesterday. With a six-man rotation and full bullpen, the Mets don’t have space to carry an injured man, so while we don’t have an exact diagnosis on Murphy’s ankle yet, there’s a chance he’ll be ready at the 15 day mark.
Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.
A pitcher for today: Jeff Locke at ATL (Julio Teheran)
The Braves have the league’s third-worst offense against left-handed pitchers.
A pitcher for tomorrow: Mike Fiers at MIN (Mike Pelfrey)
Sure, Fiers has to face a DH, but the Twins don’t have a real DH and it’s a favorable ballpark.

Speaking of rehab assignments, what about Corbin?
Monday at Single A Visalia.
Yeah, I know, just surprised not worth a mention in the article. I’d stash him ahead of Moore and probably Fister
Dunno why they left Corbin out. Or Griffin from Oakland either. Nova is also coming back for the Yankees soon. Maybe they needed more names for future write ups?
