Sticky Situations
Hector Santiago was thrown out of Sunday’s game for a foreign substance in the heel of his glove. He will face a suspension if tests confirm the substance was illegal. Santiago stated that he only used rosin during the game. This is the first instance of the new rules being put into effect and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Closer Chaos
Michael Fulmer was placed in the IL with a cervical spine. No timetable has been given for his return. In his absence it appears that the save opportunities will be split between José Cisnero and Gregory Soto.

Trade Rumors!!!
According to NBC Sports Chicago, Eduardo Escobar was not in the lineup on Sunday due to a trade being on the horizon. Escobar was not traded on Sunday, but rumors have been swirling around him for the last week and the White Sox appear to be the frontrunner for him.

Quick Hits
Freddy Galvis was placed on the IL with a quad strain. There is no timetable for his return.

Willie Calhoun has been placed on the IL with a fracture in the ulna bone in his forearm. He is droppable in most formats.

Josh Naylor left Sunday’s game after a scary collision. Naylor was carted off the field following the injury. He was diagnosed with a leg fracture following the game and is likely out for the majority if not the entire rest of the season.

Victor Robles left Sunday’s game after being hit in the leg by a pitch. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jose Abreu left Sunday’s game with a knee injury after being hit with a pitch. X-rays were negative after the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Dinelson Lamet was placed on the IL with forearm inflammation. This is disappointing because he was just starting to get going. He is likely droppable in most formats if you can’t afford to put him on your team’s IL.

Various News and Notes
Eduardo Rodriguez threw 6 innings in the victory over the Yankees, allowing two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out eight. ERod was very good in this one, showing really good control and command and posting a 32% CSW on his pitches. He has been really unlucky so far this season and is starting to regress positively. He should be rostered in most formats.

Taylor Trammell went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in the victory over the White Sox.

Trammell has struggled in his return to the Majors, but the Mariners are letting him work through it at the bottom of the lineup. He has power and speed and the reports on him say he is an extremely hard worker, so if he can figure out how to make even close to league average contact, he could be a really valuable player in fantasy. However, for right now he is best used as a GPP lottery ticket or in really deep leagues.

Keston Hiura went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Rockies on Sunday.

Hiura now has two home runs in four games since being recalled on June 23rd. He has always shown power and some speed, but he struggles with contact and that does not seem like it has changed. There is a ton of upside in the bat, but the struggles will continue until the approach changes.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)
Pitcher for Today: Caleb Smith at STL
Smith is quietly pitching really well and the Cardinals are not a team that scares me.

High Risk Options: Matt Manning at CLE, Spencer Howard at CIN, Michael King vs LAA, Eli Morgan vs DET.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Zach Davies at MIL
This will probably blow up in my face again, but he has been great lately and the Brewers are a favorite to stream against.

High Risk Options: Joe Ross vs TB, Vince Velasquez vs MIA, Tony Santillan vs SD, Bailey Ober at CHW.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from the recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options” but I may add them at some point.

What other kind of spine would Michael Fullmer have?

I assume he has appropriate sections of lumbar & thoracic and they’re all connected together.

I was going to say, that sounds awful, I’m pretty sure 100% of people with a cervical spine eventually die.
