Various News and Notes
Steven Wright has been placed on the 10-Day DL with a knee issue. It is currently unclear how long he is expected to be out. Wright has pitched well in the rotation until getting bombed in his last start by the Mariners. Wright isn’t guaranteed a rotation spot when he returns and as a knuckleballer he may be hit or miss when he returns anyhow.

Lorenzo Cain was placed on the 10-Day DL with a groin strain. He is not expected to miss a ton of time with the injury. Cain has been fantastic this season with a .291/.394/.438 triple slash and eight homers and 16 stolen bases. Keon Broxton will be recalled to replace him on the roster.

Dylan Bundy was placed on the 10-Day DL with an ankle sprain. The injury does not appear to be serious as manager Buck Showalter indicated that the team hopes to get Bundy back after a minimum stay on the disabled list. Bundy is having his best season yet and was on pace for a career high in strikeouts and innings. He still struggles against left-handed hitters and with keeping the ball in the yard, but things appear to finally be coming together for the 25-year-old.

Daniel Mengden was placed on the 10-Day DL with a foot sprain. Mengden was pulled from his start on Saturday after only two innings pitched once sustaining the injury. An MRI came back clean on the foot. Chris Bassitt will take his spot in the rotation.

Kris Bryant was placed on the 10-Day DL with shoulder inflammation. He missed multiple starts in a row with the issue in hopes that he could avoid the disabled list, but he will be shut down for the time being. Hopefully this means he can make a speedy recovery.

Josh Donaldson has had a setback in rehab and will miss at least another three weeks. He apparently reinrued his calf during field work. Donaldson is a free agent at the end of the season and is not only hurting his trade value for the Blue Jays, but his chance at a big contract in the off-season.
