Closer Chaos

John Brebbia got the last out of the game to register the save for the White Sox on Tuesday. Jonathan Cannon had pitched almost the entire game before Brebbia closed it out. The White Sox don’t win a lot of games, but it appears they may be moving on from Michael Kopech as their closer considering he was available for this game.

Pete Fairbanks left Tuesday’s game with a thumb issue after being hit with a comebacker. X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Quick Hits

Bo Bichette was placed on the IL with a calf strain. There is no timetable for his return, but the early indications are that this is not a long term issue. Orelvis Martinez was recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Cody Poteet was placed on the IL with a triceps strain. There is no timetable for his return.

Justin Verlander was placed on the IL with neck discomfort. The hope is that this is a minimum stay on the IL for Verlander.

Alex Kirilloff was placed on the IL with a back issue. There is no timetable for his return.

Jordan Westburg left Tuesday’s game with a hip issue. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Aaron Judge left Tuesday’s game after being hit in the hand with a pitch.

X-rays were negative, so it appears he has avoided serious injury. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Jeimer Candelario left Tuesday’s game with tendinitis. The issue is not considered serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Charlie Blackmon left Tuesday’s game with a hamstring issue. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Alec Burleson went 2-for5 with a home run in the loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Burleson is hitting .247/.305/.444 with 10 home runs and two stolen bases this season and has been batting second in the Cardinals lineup for quite some time. He doesn’t hit lefties well, but that hasn’t stopped the Cardinals from playing him versus southpaws entirely. He is making a lot of contact in the zone and hitting the ball well when he does, so while he is on a hot streak, he deserves a fair amount of the luck he has been getting.

Tobias Myers threw 6.1 scoreless innings versus the Angels, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six in the victory on Tuesday.

Myers continues to pitch really well for the Brewers, throwing his third straight quality start and only allowing one run over his last 20.1 innings pitched. He had a 30% CSW on his fastball and a 67% whiff rate on his slider in this one. While he doesn’t have an elite pitch, he does have four pitches that he can use in most spots which helps keep hitters off balanced. He is a team streamer in 12 and 15-team leagues.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: None

A few decent high risk options but none I feel confident in.

High Risk Options: Cade Povich at NYY, Andrew Heaney vs NYM.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Spencer Arrighetti at CHW

Arrighetti has struggled as of late, but he has a fantastic matchup against a terrible White Sox team.

High Risk Options: Logan Allen vs SEA, Simeon Woods Richardson vs TB, Mitch Spence vs KC.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
