Roto Riteup: June 19, 2015

Today’s Roto Riteup features far fewer ponies than your typical Friday fare.

On today’s agenda:
1. Various news and notes
2. Streaming Pitcher Options

Various news and notes

– Bryce Harper was pulled from yesterday’s game after his knee buckled while making a throw from the outfield. The good news is he was able to walk off without assistance, and we may know a full diagnosis by the time this is published.

– Wil Myers will miss a couple months after having surgery on his left wrist. Will Venable, who has shown flashes of being an interesting mixed league option both this year and in the past, will see a majority of his ABs, with Melvin Upton, Jr. seeing the lion’s share of the remainder.

– Through 10 games, Carlos Correa has hit three homers and stole four bases — three of which came yesterday. His batting average is inflated right now, but man are the raw tool gorgeous.

– Derek Holland has been okayed to start a throwing program, and is on schedule to receive another round of MRIs in a couple weeks before ramping up to a rehab assignment. Holland isn’t Jose Fernandez, but he could help swing the second half of the season for some owners.

– Kris Medlen is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment today, starting for the Royals’ Double-A affiliate. The Royals just placed Yordano Ventura on the DL, but it doesn’t seem like they’ll rush Medlen to the bigs. Expect the former Braves right-hander to make his 2015 MLB debut around the All-Star break.

– The Braves are poised to call Matt Wisler up for a spot start today after sending Mike Foltynewicz to the minors earlier this week. Wisler hasn’t been overly impressive at Triple-A for Atlanta, but he’s shown great promise in the past and has the type of stuff to succeed in the bigs. While not convinced that Wisler will tear it up upon his promotion, I believe he’ll be a solid big league starter for quite a while.

– Joe Ross may remain in the Nationals rotation as Doug Fister comes off the disabled list, but he’s simply filling the opening vacated by Stephen Strasburg, so don’t get too excited about his rest of season value.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Kyle Hendricks at MIN (Phil Hughes)
The Twins have the league’s second worst offense against right-handed pitchers, giving Hendricks an upper hand.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Anthony DeSclafani vs MIA (Tom Koehler)
While a Reds starter at home can be a risky proposition, the Marlins are a bottom-three offense against righties.

In a 6×6 H2H keeper league and considering trading Cabrera, Duda, and Gordon for Puig, Freeman, and Sandoval. I’m near first place but think the loss in present value is worth it to get Puig at $14 (with $5 yearly increase). Thoughts>

Should note: Alex Gordon.

I wouldn’t, personally. Miggy is the best player in the deal.
