Roto Riteup: July 30, 2018

Here at the Roto Riteup, we are all for Hug Season.

On the Agenda:

  1. Trade!
  2. Rumors!
  3. Various News and Notes
  4. Streaming Pitchers

Trade!
Brad Brach was traded to the Atlanta Braves for international nomus money. Brach will likely be in the mix for saves with Arodys Vizcaino on the disabled list. Brach has struggled this season which lowered his trade value and means he may not get many saves in spite of the trade.

Rumors!
According to Dan Connolly of the Athletic, Adam Jones will likely not be traded this season. Jones has veto rights for any trade made and will not waive his 10-5 rights, so he will remain in Baltimore for the last year of his deal.

According to Jon Heyman of Fancred, the Padres are the favorite to land Chris Archer. The Padres have an embarrassment of riches in their minor league system and make a good trade partner for the Rays. However, there is no guarantee that Tampa Bay moves Archer at all, so this may be much ado about nothing.

According to Jon Heyman, the Nationals are still trying to acquire All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto. Realmuto would be a great addition for the Nationals and free-agent-to-be Bryce HArper has been a vocal advocate of the move. The Nationals would likely have to part with Victor Robles or Carter Kieboom, so the price will not be cheap. It is unclear if the Nationals are considering themselves contenders or sellers at the deadline, but this may be an indication they do not plan on selling.

Various News and Notes
Kolby Allard will likely make his Major League debut for the Atlanta Braves. Allard is one of the Braves top pitching prospects and while he does not rack up the strikeouts, he possesses plus command and three average to above average pitches from the left side. Allard should be added in the majority of formats as a streamer and the possibility he can stay in the rotation.

Andrew McCutchen left Sunday’s game with a minor foot contusion. McCutchen has been held back a bit by the Giants offense and park this season, hitting .253/.348/.405 with 10 home runs and nine stolen bases this year. He is a free agent at the end of this season, so we could see him get traded for the end of the season if the Giants fall out of the Wild Card race.

Can the Nationals risk giving up Robles and then possibly losing Harper in FA? Seems like it would only be worth it if they knew they’d keep Harper.
