Roto Riteup: July 1, 2024

I need these:

On the Agenda:

  1. Closer Chaos
  2. Quick Hits
  3. Various News and Notes
  4. Streaming Pitchers

Closer Chaos

Tyler Holton got one out to register the save for the Tigers on Sunday versus the Angels. Shelby Miller had been brought into the game up six before giving up three runs before Holton was brought in. Jason Foley had gotten the loss the previous day, but should have been available. This may have been more a matchup play considering Holton faced a lefty, but the Tiger bullpen has been more fluid than not as of late.

Quick Hits

Mitch Garver left Sunday’s game after being hit with a pitch.

X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Taylor Ward left Sunday’s game after being hit in the head with a pitch.

Consider him day-to-day for now. The Angels will monitor him for concussion symptoms but early signs were that he is ok.

Casey Mize left Sunday’s game with a leg issue. It is not believed to be serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Derek Hill went 2-for-3 with two home runs in the victory over the Orioles on Sunday.

Hill has been fantastic since being called up, hitting three home runs and stealing two bases in nine games. The 28-year-old is a former top prospect having been drafted in the first round back in 2014, but he has never been able to do too much at the Major League level. He is someone to monitor for deeper leagues, but probably doesn’t have value moving forward.

Wyatt Langford went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle in the victory over the Orioles on Sunday.

Langford struggled in his initial go around in the Majors, but since returning from the IL, he is hitting .299 with three home runs and six stolen bases in 107 plate appearances. Langford is one of the top prospects in baseball and now is looking like the stud many expected him to be.

Trevor Larnach went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Mariners on Sunday.

Larnach has quietly been pretty good for the Twins, hitting eight home runs and stealing two bases in 183 plate appearances. He is a strong side platoon bat for Minnesota, but when he is in the lineup, he is at the top of it because of his good plate skills. When the Twins have a righty heavy schedule, he is a good guy to stream.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: David Peterson at WAS

Peterson has pitched decently since coming off the IL and there aren’t a lot of options with so few games.

High Risk Options: Bryse Wilson at COL, Yariel Rodriguez vs HOU.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Jose Soriano at OAK

Soriano has been great this season and faces a terrible A’s lineup.

High Risk Options: Simeon Woods Richardson vs DET, Spencer Arrighetti at TOR, DJ Jerz vs NYM, Mitch Spence vs LAA.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

No mention of the expected James Woods call-up?
