The top prospect in all of baseball made his reappearance to the big leagues yesterday. Lucas Giolito was hit around to the tune of four runs over the course of five innings. While he has little to no value rest of this season, his poor showing so far in the Major Leagues could make him a value in 2017 drafts. In Triple-A this season he has sported a 2.76 ERA with a 10.74 K/9 and a much improved walk rate from Double-A.

Since returning from the DL, Derek Holland has fired two quality starts. In each outing he has struck out five batters and only walked one total between the two starts. The 29-year-old lefty could be very useful down the stretch for fantasy owners that are still in contention and have been hurt by injuries or underperforming pitchers.

Carlos Rodon has been on fire during the month of August! In four starts he has a 1.46 ERA, 20 strikeouts to 6 walks in 24.2 innings of work. He has not given up a home run during this span and has only once walked more than two batters in a game since June 3rd. This may be the breakout we have been waiting for from the 23-year-old former third overall pick. If he keeps this up through September, he will find himself on a number of sleeper lists going into next season, which would undoubtedly raise his price.

Ivan Nova had to leave his start on Sunday due to discomfort in his hamstring. Nova, who had been pitching better since his move to Pittsburgh, is expected to make his next start.

According to Manager Dave Roberts, rookie pitcher Julio Urias will remain in the rotation for the time being. Urias has been better as of late, but has only managed to go at least 6 innings three times at the Major League level. With the Dodgers in contention, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them keep him in the rotation rest of the season and he might be worth a pickup in deeper redraft leagues that he is not already owned in.

A pitcher for today: Sean Manaea @Hou (Joe Musgrove)

Not a big fan of any of these low owned guys, but I will take a shot on Manaea here against a team that strikes out the 5th most in MLB against lefties.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Tyler Anderson vs. LAD (Rich Hill)

You like ballsy calls? The Dodgers have the lowest wOBA in the Major Leagues against left-handed pitching this season. Anderson has shown the ability to pitch well in his home park. Opposing pitcher Rich Hill has a career 8.80 ERA and 1.891 WHIP in Colorado.

*I am a huge SF Giants fan

How did I get stuck with these two slates?
