Tampa Bay Rangers
According to manager Jeff Banister, the Rangers are considering using an “opener” before Martin Perez in his next turn in the rotation. It will be interesting to see who they use, but this is more interesting that another team is entertain this approach.
Various News and Notes
Reds will be moving Cody Reed into the rotation. Reed has been decent out of the pen in Majors and in AAA as a starter this year. He has only really struggled with the long ball in the Majors and if he can figure out how to keep the ball in Great American Ballpark, he could be very interesting post-hype sleeper.
Sean Manaea was placed on the 10-Day DL with a shoulder impingement. There is no current timetable for return, but this seems likely to end Manaea’s season. Daniel Mengden and his mustache are expected to rejoin the A’s rotation.
Buster Posey has been placed on the 10-Day DL with a hip impingement. This will end Posey’s season as he is scheduled for surgery today. The recovery is supposed to take 6-8 months so this could affect his ability to be on the Opening Day roster.
Jeff McNeil was removed from the game on Sunday after experiencing tightness in his quad. McNeil stated after the game that the injury is nothing major and that he doesn’t expect to miss much time if any.
Kelvin Herrera was left Sunday’s game after sustaining a leg injury. The injury appeared to be very serious after it happened as he had to be carted off the field:

X-rays were negative after the game, but this seems like he will be put on the disabled list either way.
Streaming Pitchers Options
A pitcher for today: Sam Gaviglio @ BAL
Gaviglio had his best start of the season versus the Orioles in his last go around. Risky to be seen twice in a week, but worth the shot against one of the worst lineups in the game.
A pitcher for tomorrow: Jake Junis vs DET
Junis has a 2.65 ERA over his last three starts and has struck out 18 in 17 innings in that stretch as well.

likely to end Manaea season???
where is this coming from? i read this wasn’t cause for great concern
We’re getting to that point in the season where just about any DL trip is season-ending.
A trip to the DL is 10 days at least, but that’s a long ways from 35, so I disagree with your statement completely.
They did this last year after asg when he was struggling and velo down, it kinda gave him a boost if i remember. With this stint hell miss astros & nyy & come back vs tex or balt. With a soft schedulerest of sept. Hell be back.
