Roto Riteup: August 15, 2013

Today’s Roto Riteup comes on my sister’s birthday. I’d give her well wishes here, but we already celebrated the occasion a couple nights ago, and I don’t want to over-inflate her already massive ego.

On today’s agenda:
1. Colby Rasmus to DL
2. Desmond Jennings to return Monday, probably
3. Fun with arbitrary endpoints

Colby Rasmus to DL
Rasmus’ breakout return to glory will have to be put on hold due to an oblique injury. While Rasmus is expected to return at some point in September, the Blue Jays may elect to proceed with caution and keep the left-hander on the DL through the end of the season. Rasmus has been putting up quality roto numbers this year, but quite honestly, it’s hard to put a whole lot of faith into him looking forward to 2014. While it’s still too early to officially say anything, I don’t see Rasmus being draft worthy in leagues with relatively standard settings.

Desmond Jennings to return Monday, probably
Deezy has been on the DL since the fifth, and the fact that the electric outfielder is coming back after less than three weeks off is a good sign. Deezy’s return should help the Rays, but it doesn’t help owners hoping to see Wil Myers gain centerfield eligibility in some formats. Myers has already secured CF eligibility in Yahoo! leagues, but most other providers aren’t so friendly with their settings.

Fun with arbitrary endpoints
