Fun with arbitrary endpoints
All stats are through Saturday and are for the past two weeks.

Nelson Cruz: 62 PA, .421/.468/.912, 8 HR
Lucas Duda: 49 PA, .341/.426/.927, 7 HR
David Ortiz: 57 PA, .327/.421/.755, 6 HR
Brandon Phillips: 58 PA, .327/.362/.491, 3 HR, 5 SB
Carlos Correa: 57 PA, .286/.386/.673, 6 HR, 3 SB
Adonis Garcia: 55 PA, .241/.255/.537, 4 HR

Various news and notes

Justin Masterson’s time with the Red Sox is finally over, as he was designated for assignment yesterday after giving up a homer over an inning of relief. Masterson ends his 2015 campaign with Boston with a 5.61 ERA, slightly better than the mark he carried in 2014. Masterson will certainly catch on somewhere on a minor league deal, but his time as a major league starter seems over.

Chris Bassitt has shown some nice stuff as a member of the Oakland Athletics rotation, and he struck out 10 batters yesterday while allowing one earned over six-plus innings of work. Bassitt’s ERA now sits below 2.50 this year, and his FIP is 3.36.

Marco Estrada looked solid against the Yankees yesterday. He was unafraid to throw his changeup for strikes early in the count, and he kept the Yankees off balance all day long. Estrada doesn’t have the same stuff he did when dominating in 2012 and 2013, but he’s an effective AL starter who can contribute with his WHIP.

Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.

A pitcher for today: Jonathon Niese vs COL (Jon Gray)
In case you hadn’t noticed, Niese has been excellent recently.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Dan Haren vs MIL (Taylor Jungmann)
Haren does have some problems with homers, but no Aramis Ramirez and no Carlos Gomez means less to fear from the Brew Crew.

How do you feel about Lefty David Holmberg at Petco against a padres team that is OPSing .638 VS. Lefties this year?

Holmberg is risky, but the Padres are a pretty terrible team. If you need to try it, go for it.
