The Corey Kluber Society mourns
Kluber didn’t do so hot yesterday against the A’s in his 2014 debut. Listening to the radio feed, it sounds as if Kluber just couldn’t locate his hurls, and the three walks he allowed in less than four innings back that up. Kluber was so fun last year and posted a 21/3 K/BB ratio this spring, and I would be lying if I said I thought he wouldn’t bounce back next outing.

Jameson Taillon’s elbow
Jameson Taillon had an elbow exam over a week ago that showed his ligaments and stuff were still intact, but the right-hander received a second opinion on Monday. The Pirates haven’t leaked or announced news of the results of said second opinion, so that’s a little scary. Hopefully we hear what the deal is before too long, and hopefully the top prospect doesn’t succomb to the wrath of Tommy John.

Fun with arbitrary endpoints
All stats are through Tuesday’s piping hot game action.

Dustin Ackley, 2014: 9 PA, .571/.667/.1000; 2B, 3B, SB, 2 BB, K, irrelevant BABIP
Pedro Alvarez, spring training: 54 PA, .277/.370/.468; 2 HR, 14 K
Tyler Skaggs, spring training: 23.2 IP, 4.94 ERA; 19 K, 12 BB, 2 HR
Jesse Chavez, spring training: 28.1 IP, 2.22 ERA; 25 K, 6 BB, 4 HR

The Daily Five

SP: Chris Archer, $7,900
Let’s see how he does fresh off a sweet new extension.

SP: Roenis Elias, $5,500
As if you needed more reason to watch his filthy breaking ball.

OF: Adam Jones, $4,100
I like Felix Doubront, but I like Adam Jones against him at home even more.

1B: Justin Smoak, $3,200
I guess you could say I don’t trust Jesse Chavez.

2B: Dustin Ackley, $3,000
Ditto, only more so because Dustin makes me feel all tingly inside.

How good was KAZMIR last night? God I wish my Mets still employed him.

I love Archer for 2014. Him, Kazmir, and Cobb are good sleepers for AL CY Young.

Pitching in Oakland is fantasy gold.
