Roto Riteup: April 26th, 2012

Four bullet points today? Merry Christmas, America.

• Michael Pineda is now out for the year with a tear in his throwing shoulder. Keep him in dynasty leagues, but assess his 2013 cost in keeper leagues.

• If you were expecting to play Carl Crawford this year, you’re almost out of luck. Crawford is going to visit famed mortician Dr. James Andrews to get fit for a coffin. Crawford is ll having elbow troubles, likely caused by carrying all $142 million with one hand. Crawford was a nice bounceback candidate, but he’ll first have to bounce back from injury.

• Not that any to you owned him, but Mike Pelfrey is probably going to be out the rest of the season following an elbow injury. Pelfrey is waiting for a second opinion, but odds are that it won’t change the initial diagnosis. Pelfrey may have been owned in severely deep NL-only leagues, but he won’t be now.

• If you’re a Jesse Crain owner or enthusiast, you’ve probably been wondering like I why he hasn’t been pitching recently. It turns out he as a minor oblique injury, but he should be back in a day or two. Crain is a personal favorite of mine, but he has a couple relievers in front of him on the White Sox closer depth chart, so you don’t need to own him unless your league counts holds.

For those of you who play daily fantasy games like FanGraphs: The Game, or just like to stream players, here are a couple matchups you may be able to exploit.

A Pitcher for Today: Ryan Vogelsong (SFG) at CIN
Vogelsong is still on top of his game despite an offseason to forget how to be effective.

A Pitcher for Tomorrow: Carlos Zambrano (MIA) vs ARZ
Arizona’s offense is good, but Zambrano at home against Joe Saunders seems like a good chance for a “W”. Danny Duffy is a secondary option.

A Hitter for Today: Kyle Seager (SEA) at DET (Rick Porcello)
I don’t know why, but I’ve got a good feeling about Seager today.
