• Asdrubal Cabrera has been placed on the Indians bereavement list, so make sure to adjust your daily lineups accordingly.

• The Colorado Rockies are doing the right thing by optioning right-hander Tyler Chatwood to Triple-A, where he will work as a starter. The Rockies had been using Chatwood out of the bullpen, but his struggles and the need for a fresh arm forced their hand. I got booed off the internet this offseason for suggesting that Chatwood isn’t horrible, and I still think the same. With some time to develop, the young hurler could turn into a good third of fourth starter. He may come available in dynasty leagues since teams won’t see any immediate value, and snatching him up and stashing him is not the worst idea in the world.

• Should you drop Tim Lincecum? No, you shouldn’t. Should you be a little concerned? You bet your sweet ass you should. While Timmy’s peripherals look nice, his velocity and disdain for his slider are legitimate reasons to worry. You aren’t going to be able to trade him to any owner at the moment, so you’re just going to have to ride this one out and hope the sun shines anew in Timmy Town.

For those of you who play daily fantasy games like FanGraphs: The Game, or just like to stream players, here are a couple matchups you may be able to exploit.

A Pitcher for Today: Jason Vargas (SEA) vs CLE
I don’t know why I have no respect for Cleveland, but apparently that’s the case. Vargas won’t strike out more than five batters, but I’d bet his WHIP is mighty nice.

A Pitcher for Tomorrow: Jeff Samardzija (CHC) at MIA
Samardzija could rack up some Ks, and he’s pitching in a large park. He may not be available after the start he pulled out of his butt last week, but check to see if you can utilize him and his RP eligibility.

I don’t much believe in small samples, but I like a lefty against Marquis in Yankee Stadium, and Ibanez is 8-for-22 off him lifetime.

I realize that Cleveland CAN’T possibly continue to just pile on runs, but to continue to pick against them knowing that someone will eventually shut them down means you’re not highlighting another match up. It seems a bit silly to me to keep demanding that the numbers play out the way you think they should.

I’m not specifically targeting Cleveland.

Part of the problem is that I’m not recommending top-notch starters, because they will not be eligible for adding to your roster. When you have your options limited, sometimes you’ll get a team targeted for a couple days. Nothing more.
