Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest
On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested.
Quick Hits
Jake Burger was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. Typically these types of injuries take 4-to-6 weeks to recover from.
Tyler O’Neill left Monday’s game with a head injury after colliding with Rafael Devers in the outfield.

O’Neill is in concussion protocol. Consider him day-to-day at this time.
Seiya Suzuki was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. He will likely miss 4-to-6 weeks. The Cubs called up Alexander Canario who is a power hitting outfielder that struggles with making consistent contact. Canario is likely going to be a short-side platoon hitter and is likely best for NL Only leagues.
Keibert Ruiz was placed on the IL with an illness. The illness is not considered serious and he is expected back after a minimum stay.
J.D. Davis was placed on the IL with a groin strain. There is no timetable for his return.
Various News and Notes
Jose Miranda went 3-for-4 with a home run in the loss to the Orioles on Monday.

Miranda is a former top prospect that has struggled to translate his skills to the Major Leagues. He has the ability to hit for power and average if he can carve out enough playing time. Keep him on your watch list right now.
Esteury Ruiz went 1-for-1 with a home run in the loss to the Cardinals on Monday.
In his first at bat back after being wrongfully banished to Triple-A, Esteury Ruiz just hit this home from 107 mph and 406 feet.
Officially out in all 30 MLB parks.

Ruiz was called up to replace J.D. Davis was on the roster and made most of his pinch hit appearances. Ruiz was demoted after three games by the A’s to the astonishment of many, but he has returned and made his mark very quickly. While he is not the most well-rounded player, he can provide a ton of speed for fantasy managers that are in need of stolen bases.
Ben Brown threw six innings versus the Diamondbacks, allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in the no-decision on Monday.

Brown was not overpowering but was effective in Arizona, getting a 32% CSW on the night with just a 19% whiff rate. Brown is essentially a two-pitch guy, only throwing one changeup in his 84-pitch outing. Without the growth of a third usable pitch, he will have struggles especially if he can’t get many whiffs.

Pitcher for Today: Ryan Weathers vs SF
Weathers looked better in his last start and I am not afraid of the Giants offense.
High Risk Options: Chris Paddack at BAL, JP Sears vs STL, Wade Miley vs SD, Jose Soriano at TB.
Pitcher for Tomorrow: Steven Matz at OAK
Matz has looked good to start the season and faces the worst team in the league.
High Risk Options: Andrew Abbott at SEA, Tyler Wells vs MIN, AJ Puk vs SF, Keaton Winn at MIA, Ryan Feltner at PHI.
