Quick Hits
Colton Cowser was placed on the IL with a fractured thumb. Cowser is expected to miss 6-8 weeks which would make him droppable in shallower formats. Dylan Carlson was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Aaron Civale was placed on the 15-Day IL with a hamstring strain. There is no timetable for his return.
Dairon Blanco was placed on the IL with an achilles injury. There is no timetable for his return. Tyler Tolbert was recalled to take his spot on the roster and could be a speed source in very deep leagues.
Francisco Lindor was not in the lineup for the Mets due to the birth of his son. He will likely miss another game or two before returning.
Jurickson Profar was suspended by Major League Baseball for violating the policy on Performance Enhancing Drugs. Profar will miss the next 80 games. The Braves acquired Stuart Fairchild from the Reds for cash to take his place on the roster.
Gleyber Torres was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. He will likely miss 4-6 weeks. Justyn-Henry Malloy was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Reynaldo Lopez was placed on the IL with shoulder inflammation. This is concerning as Lopez missed a lot of time last year with arm issues. Stash him for now, but be ready to drop him if he has a setback. Bryce Elder was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Christian Encarncion-Strand left Monday’s game with a hand injury after being hit by a pitch.
X-rays were negative following the game, so consider him day-to-day at this time.
Mike Soroka left Monday’s start with a biceps injury on Monday.
The Nationals are calling it a cramp so this appears to be precautionary. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Various News and Notes
Maikel Garcia went 1-for-3 with a home run in the victory over the Brewers on Monday.
Garcia also walked twice in this one which is also intriguing as a guy with a career 7% walk rate. Garcia was not in the Opening Day lineup, but has homered twice since then and played centerfield for the Royals which will give him outfield eligibility if he can continue to get reps out there. Garcia has a ton of speed and is a good in-zone hitter, so he is someone to watch if he is able to continue to strike the ball hard.
David Peterson threw six innings and allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out nine in the victory over the Marlins.
Peterson wasn’t overly impressive and really just took advantage of a bad Marlins offense. He is in the rotation for the Mets until they get healthy but is more of a streamer than a guy you want to hold.
Jordan Hicks threw six scoreless innings versus the Astros, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out six in the victory on Monday.
Hicks was fantastic in this one, throwing 13 pitches 100 MPH or more. He only had ten total pitches at that velocity last season. His sweeper was especially impressive with a 50% whiff rate. If he can keep this velocity, then he will be viable in all formats.
Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Astros on Monday.
Flores is playing every day as the DH in San Francisco and already has three home runs on the season which almost equals his total of four from last season. Flores is a season removed from 23 home runs and will get plenty of run in San Francisco so he is viable in deeper formats.

Lindor was at the stadium last night and apparently available to hit late in the game. I expect he’ll start tonight.
