Anyone else find these lists not extremely helpful when there’s no accompanying commentary on why players are ranked this way?
Yes… I think they’re mainly placeholders until the next season gets underway so that Justin doesn’t have to type it all up sometime in February. The lists are nice to look at but it’s November and this posted content just seems to be a way to keep us fantasy players on the site. It’s working for me, anyway, even if the ranking interpretation is solely up to the reader.
Justin & Paul are consistent at diving into the ranks, debating the slotting and going over some of the methodology on the Sleep & the Bust pod. Both recently and in the offseason(s). I think it’s a great jumping-off point for discussion.
It’s good for discussion but it’s just filler content until the season gets closer. There’s obviously not a whole lot of tinkering and adjusting going on yet at this point. For example, Buster Posey was ranked 5th in yesterday’s catcher rankings, three weeks after he announced his retirement.
Buster’s afterglow alone is worth a top ten ranking.
I think ADP vs. rank comparisons are very helpful. Subject to change between now and then, sure – but there’s utility tracking how the market progresses for certain players…
I remember a couple of years ago they were accompanied by notes. Not sure why those went away. It was good to at least have some sort of reasoning to go along with it.
Or if he actually participated in the comments discussion
