Eno Sarris Chat — 8/24/12
With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
Not so fast on the Fiers drop. I’d wait for the Brewers to announce a stop date for him. His next stars line up to be pretty sweet. He’s got 3 roadies against Cubs, Marlins and Cardinals followed by home vs. Mets then back on the road for the Pirates again.
I’m actually not so sure they’ll shut him down. This isn’t some high-pedigreed 21 yr old kid who’s heaving it up there at 95 and shredding his elbow throwing nasty splits and sliders. He’s a 27yr old man who was a 22nd round pick and is a finesse pitcher featuring an easy on the arm repertoire.
Fiers has already logged a lot of innings in his college/pro career and already got up to 142 innings in the minors in 2010. I’m guessing they’ll go with him as long as he’s not showing any signs of slowing down or losing effectiveness. When they get to 180 they might think about turning him off since that’s enough innings to allow them to not have to think about innings management with him next year.
