Daily Fantasy Strategy — May 17 — For Draftstreet

Eric Stults‘ wasn’t hit hard after all. In fact, he was barely hit at all. Baseball, man. It’s a weird game. And speaking of weird, despite the fact that Brian Dozier is completely legit, it’s weird to see his name at the top of leaderboards. He went deep again last night – bringing his total to ten. Weird game, indeed.

No chart today, but don’t worry we’ll make it work. Bartolo Colon has been dreadful in 2014. He draws Washington today, and fortunately for him they’ve struggled versus right handed pitching. If you’re looking at the match-up optimistically from Washington’s side, however, Colon could be a nice springboard for the offense. Bud Norris struggles mightily versus lefties, and the Royals have a lot of lefties that haven’t performed up to par. Something has to give. Cesar Ramos is slated to face the Angels. I don’t like his chances to perform very well. And finally, it’s Kershaw night.

Jayson Werth – $7,392
Anthony Rendon – $6,918
Ian Desmond – $5,466

Werth and Rendon are kinda self-explanatory. Desmond, however, is just a hunch. He’s more than capable of running into one, which makes him worthwhile, in my opinion. If hi strikeout ways worry you, and they might considering Draftstreet’s point structure, I like Denard Span as well.

Jose Bautista – $8,720

Bautista versus a lefty, in Texas? Yes, please.

Homer Bailey – $14,529

On one hand, Homer Bailey has been unlucky. On the other hand, he’s thrown a lot of balls over the middle of the plate that have made his unsustainable home run rate possible to this point. He’s pitching in Philly, which can be a terrible proposition, but he’s getting to the Phillies’ offense which currently ranks 23rd in the majors. Bailey’s situation is similar to how I felt about Lance Lynn yesterday: good match-up, cheap price, and not much production needed to justify the purchase.
