So, remember that time I recommended stacking Giants versus Paul Maholm? Yeesh. Oh well, perhaps you’re nice enough to let me slide on that one. Hell, I can’t be the only one who thought he’d get hit pretty hard. I thought the match-up itself had tremendous blow-up potential, considering Ryan Vogelsong was on the other end of the bill. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out that way. The Giants I happened to pick performed alright, but they weren’t winning you any money. So hopefully, we have a little better luck today.

A few days ago, Blake wrote a little about how teams are performing according to the handedness of the opposing pitcher. The Nationals offense has crushed lefties so far. So have the Phillies, Braves, Rockies, and Giants. Each of those teams has posted wOBAs’ better than .350 versus left handed pitching, so far. That’s neat, especially considering that not one team has posted a wOBA over .350 versus right handed pitching.
On the other side of the coin, the Diamondbacks’ rotation has allowed a staggering .406 wOBA to lefties. Just a tad worse than their .322 mark versus right handed batters. So far if you’ve stacked lefties versus Arizona, Houston, Toronto, or Minnesota you’ve probably had some good fortune. And if you’ve stacked right handed batters versus Philadelphia, Baltimore, Colorado, or Minnesota (again) you’ve probably also had some good luck.
As always, continue to monitor team trends.

The Rockies are back home. And they get to face the Phillies for the next few days. So, yay. The Colorado-Philadelphia has stacking potential on both sides. But you’re going to have to pay a pretty penny in order to do it, especially on the Colorado’s end.
The Daily Five
Rangers stack
Prince Fielder – $7,411
Alex Rios – $6,724
Mitch Moreland – $5,624
Felipe Paulino probably doesn’t belong in a major league rotation. The Rangers offense hasn’t quite hit its stride yet, but their weather forecast is among the best tomorrow, so we’re betting on track record a little.
Marcell Ozuna – $5,938
I’ll admit, this pick is somewhat of a hunch. Ozuna has seemingly made some strides this season. On the whole, he’s a mistake hitter, and Chris Young has made a lot of those the last few seasons.
Aaron Harang – $13,459
Why not? Harang won’t sustain this kind of success, but his numbers so far aren’t completely flukey. He’s given up walks rather judiciously while inducing an 11% swinging strike rate. The Mets still own the worst team wide strikeout rate, so Harang’s floor should be relatively high even if he gives up a few runs.

is it crazy tonight to stack both Colorado and Texas and use someone like Kimbrel to make it work?
Not at all. Colorado is probably the best stack of the night, but I assumed most would go that route, so I was trying to give another option in case people were hesitant to pray the prices for Colorado hitters.
It goes without saying that I like Cargo tonight, but Morneau is a must if you’re buying Rockies’ hitters.
