The trade deadline has come and gone, and what an interesting day Monday wound up proving to be. Fangraphs has you covered with the deadline omnibus post here (and fantasy omnibus post here), and there’s obviously too much going on for us to dive into within the scope of the Roto Riteup. Instead, we’ll focus on one narrower aspect of the non-waiver deadline.
The Mariners play on Sunday Night Baseball today for the first time in over a decade, and King Felix takes the hill on the big stage. That is newsworthy, so we’re reporting it here on the Roto Riteup.
On the agenda:
1. Mark Melancon to the Nats
2. Matt Kemp to the Braves
3. Streaming Pitcher Options
That’s right, it’s still me. Four straight days of Zach with the Roto Riteup, what a treat.
On the agenda:
1. Andrew Cashner, meet the Marlins
2. Various News and Notes
3. Streaming Pitcher Options
Lord have mercy, the trade winds are rising. From the depths of Wade Miley to the stars of Jonathan Lucroy, the rumors are flying fast and furious, and the Roto Riteup will be here every step of the way, provided those steps are taken at a certain time in the morning.
On the agenda:
1. Eduardo Nunez to the Giants
2. Hello Homer
3. Streaming Pitcher Options
Today’s Roto Riteup is brought to you by my #EvenYear playoff beard which is currently 2-9 since the break. Read the rest of this entry »
Maybe I’m just a really cool badass, but I find rules to be dumb when they’re enforced in a way that polices to the letter and not the spirit. The latest example? Yasiel Puig getting warned by MLB and threatened with a fine if he wears his Vin Scully colorway Nike cleats again. Rule of thumb: If a tribute is cool enough that your own social media accounts tweet it out, it’s probably doing more good than harm.
These Vin Scully cleats are 😍. pic.twitter.com/TQ3Im1NJ4e

I get that rules are rules and there can be a slippery slope, but…really? Make Baseball Garish Again.
For seven innings, a paltry San Diego Padres offense struggled to get to the red-hot Aaron Sanchez, who has now won 10 consecutive decisions and lowered his ERA to 2.72 (bye, bullpen ideas). Then the bullpen came in, and Alex Dickerson hit the most majestic home run I’ve ever seen at a game live.
