Notable Workloads
•Tanner Rainey, WSH: 24 pitches on Monday. | Roster Resource
Rainey threw 19 pitches on Saturday, was off on Sunday, and back at it again on Monday. It’s likely that he’ll get the day off on Tuesday and that either Kyle Finnegan or Carl Edwards Jr. could fill in against the Braves.

Outlier Saves
•Matt Moore, TEX | Roster Resource
The Rangers took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning and handed the game to Moore up by two. He faced only three batters and needed only six pitches to record his first save of his career. With Joe Barlow throwing over 20 pitches on both Saturday and Sunday, Matt Bush was the expected fill-in for the save opportunity. Brock Burke was given the seventh and eighth and recorded the win. Although the righty Matt Bush was warming in the pen, it was the lefty Matt Moore who manager Chris Woodward chose to take on three right-handed hitters at the bottom of the order.
Moore has been solid in his last five outings giving up no runs and only one hit in six innings. Prior to that stretch, he had one stinker on May 30th where he did not record an out and gave up three earned runs. Bush has written a similar story as he’s given up only three runs in his last ten appearances and all three came from one bad outing. In that time period (post 5/18/22) he’s given up seven hits in 8.1 innings and four of those hits came in that one rough appearance on June 5th.
You will notice that Joe Barlow has been highlighted in “Not Very Stable” yellow in the table below. While both Moore and Bush have been stringing together solid performances, Barlow has struggled. In his last five appearances, he’s given up five earned runs, five hits, and one home run. While he has still recorded two saves and a win in that five-game span, it’s never good to be rocky when the arms waiting in the pen have been smooth. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few days and if Barlow can get back on track. If he continues to struggle, we could see Bush, Burke, or Moore get a few more opportunities.
