Notable Workloads
•Scott Barlow, KCR: 22 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Barlow was brought in during a non-save situation to get some work as he hadn’t appeared previously since June 4th. It’s likely that he will go again on Sunday if he is needed but if not, Aroldis Chapman and Carlos Hernández should be available.
•Ryan Pressly, HOU: 19 pitches on Saturday, back-to-back days. | RosterResource
Setup man Bryan Abreu is also on “High Usage Alert” after a 26-pitch appearance on Saturday, but Hector Neris and Rafael Montero did not appear and should be available on Sunday.
•Paul Sewald, SEA: 26 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Andrés Muñoz threw 15 pitches on his way to recording the hold on Saturday and he should be available to go a second day in a row. If he is not, the Mariners may need to use a middle reliever like Matt Brash or Penn Murfee.
•A.J. Puk, MIA: 22 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Both setup men Dylan Floro and Tanner Scott did not throw on Saturday and should be available.
•David Robertson, NYM: 26 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Either co-closer Adam Ottavino or setup man Brooks Raley 레일리 is the likeliest to appear in a save situation if Robertson is unavailable.
•Alexis Díaz, CIN: 20 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Lucas Sims threw 10 pitches on Saturday and Buck Farmer only threw three. Both should still be available on Sunday if Díaz needs rest.
•Devin Williams, MIL: 23 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Peter Strzelecki could see an opportunity to record a save if Williams is unavailable.
•Josh Hader, SDP: 13 pitches on Saturday, back-to-back days. | RosterResource
Nick Martinez (21 pitches on Saturday, back-to-back days) and Steven Wilson (27 pitches on Saturday) are on “High Usage Alert” along with Hader. Luis García is back from injury and has yet to appear since returning and could see some late-inning action. If not, Tim Hill may be the reliever called on if other arms need rest.

Outlier Saves
• Andre Jackson, LAD | RosterResource
The Dodgers crushed the Phillies 9-0 and were up by nine runs when Jackson entered the game in the bottom of the seventh. He pitched in relief the rest of the game and was awarded the save for throwing at least three. He gave up three hits and recorded three strikeouts. Jackson’s 2023 AAA BB/9 sits at 6.26, but in his 17.2 MLB innings this season, he’s down to 1.53 BB/9. In one appearance against the Chicago Cubs in mid-April, Jackson gave up four home runs and that has inflated his ERA to 6.62 in the majors this year. He’ll likely bounce up and down from AAA to the big leagues, working on command along the way. The 27-year-old righty projects as a long-relief option for when the Dodgers need someone to soak up innings.
•A.J. Minter, TOR | RosterResource
The Braves were winning six to three against the Nationals and Raisel Iglesias was likely unavailable after throwing back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday. It’s not clear to me why the lefty Minter was given the save situation as opposed to the righty Nick Anderson as two of the first three hitters Minter would face were right-handed. Regardless, Minter came in and gave up a home run to Stone Garrett, but then recorded three fly-ball outs to earn the save. Minter has been unlucky this year (6.14 ERA, 3.73 xERA) but he has been a good backup option for the Braves out of the pen as he has recorded nine saves, two holds, and three wins.
•Sam Long, OAK | RosterResource
Extra innings in Oakland forced a left-handed middle-reliever into a save situation in the bottom of the 1oth. He recorded two ground outs and one fly-out to secure the save, the second of his career and first of the season. The 27-year-old Long’s contract was purchased from the San Francisco Giants in mid-April and he has been in the Oakland pen ever since. He has 24 innings pitched this season, a 3.00 ERA (4.38 xERA), and a decent changeup. He won’t be blowing anyone away with his fastball, but he may fool a few with a slider or a curveball. He doesn’t project to collect many more saves and he shouldn’t be considered fantasy relevant at this point, but you never know what could happen in the Oakland bullpen.
