Brad Johnson RotoGraphs Chat – 8/16/16

The chat is complete, here’s the transcript.

1:45

Brad Johnson: Alrighty, let’s kick this off. I’ll be right back with some water.

1:46

Toki: With the way the Mets are handling Conforto Is he easily droppable in a 10 player keep 20 league?

1:47

Brad Johnson: For the present season, sure. But he’s going to be one of your top 20 keepers.

1:47

JD15: What would the best process be for turning my current keeper league, that for the first 5 years of existence has done snake drafts, into an auction draft?

1:49

Brad Johnson: This can be complicated. There are a few ways to go about it, and discussing them would entail a full article. My recommendation for the path of least resistance is to have a “final” snake season then start fresh with an auction. Remind me in the offseason and I’ll post a full article on some options.

1:49

JD15: My 18 team keeper league, where you can keep 12 players for 5 years has a franchise tag option, where you can apply a franchise tag to a player to extend the keep-ability for an extra 2 years, but once you use it you cannot tag anyone for 3 year. Would it be best to use it on Kershaw this year (round 1 of 22 keeper) or wait until next year for Arenado (round 10 (if current production holds) of 22)?

1:49

Brad Johnson: I wouldn’t use it on Kershaw.

1:50

Brad Johnson: As much as he’s a league winner, all pitchers eventually succumb to injury

1:50

JD15: Just gave up 5 years of Giolito and Luke Weaver to get 4 years of M. Fulmer. How’d I do considering I’m sitting in a playoff spot right now?

1:50

Brad Johnson: With news that Fulmer might be limited down the stretch, I probably prefer the pair. I don’t hate it though, either side could win long term and you should come out ahead this year.

1:51

Yankee Doodle: The Yankees seem to have a lot of options for their 2017 starting outfield. Which three guys do you anticipate being out there on opening day next season?

1:51

Brad Johnson: Ells, Judge, and Gardner is my first guess

1:51

JD15: Is Adam Warren a reliable RP again? And is he the 8th inning guy the rest of the season?

1:51

Brad Johnson: Ok JD, you’re cut off

1:51

Brad Johnson: I’m not sure re: Warren. Probably 7th inning

1:51

George is Curious: Can you name a few American League rookies that have yet to be called up, but still might make an impact this season?

1:52

Brad Johnson: I need a moment to remind myself of who qualifies here, brb

1:52

Brad Johnson: Zimmer is the biggest imo

1:53

Brad Johnson: Gurriel, Vogelbach, maybe Jharel Cotton or Raul Alcantera

1:53

gootch: Eickoff, Bundy, Musgrove, Kazmir – need to lose one of these for a streaming spot. Kaz?

1:53

Brad Johnson: Eickhoff

1:53

Toki: How would you react to initiating the same trade twice(the trade timed out both times) and having it open for 10 days and no response from the person you are trying to trade with? You can also tell that the person received an email regarding each trade as hasn’t even modified their roster in 30 days. Is this something you would bring to the attention of the Commissioner of the league? And how should they handle this?

1:54

Brad Johnson: Ignoring your offer either means they think it’s terrible or they’re not there. If they also aren’t editing their lineup, then they’re probably not there.

1:54

Brad Johnson: Tell the commish if they need to be replaced.

1:55

Brad Johnson: I routinely ignore especially bad offers for the max just so the owner in question thinks I might be considering it

1:55

Josh: Are Justin Upton and Michael Saunders worth holding onto in 12 teamers, or would streaming those hitter spots be better at this point?

1:55

Brad Johnson: Might be better with a stream at this point

1:55

Brad Johnson: depends on the options

1:55

Please Help: I’m in an 11-team AL-only and it’s the slimmest of pickings off the wire in terms of SP. However, I’m desperate right now and need to choose two of the following: Shields, Duffey, Caminero, Sabathia and M. Perez. Can you find two in there that won’t make me regret adding them? Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

1:56

Brad Johnson: You’re going to regret needing these guys

1:56

Brad Johnson: I haven’t looked beyond tomorrow’s matchups yet – but if any of them have good ones, they’re the guy to pick.

1:56

Brad Johnson: i.e. weak NL rosters, Rays, or A’s

1:57

natsfan: Hello! What is your expectation for Yuriesky Gurriel’s upside, both for ROS and for next year? Recently dealt him for Moose and Mazara

1:57

Brad Johnson: Fantastic trade, huge steal

1:57

Brad Johnson: Dae-ho Lee was a name I used earlier today as an upside scenario

1:57

Brad Johnson: the truth, we don’t really know

1:58

Brad Johnson: anyone who says they know better have personally scouted every one of his games for he Astros

1:58

matt: Does Vizcaino close when back? And is he an okay RP3?

1:58

Brad Johnson: yep and yep

1:58

Brad Johnson: small chance Johnson holds on for IP management purposes

1:58

JD15: What pitcher is Musgrove comparable to ROS?

1:58

Brad Johnson: wait, I cut you off already…

1:59

jon: Do you think Jones takes over for Robertson either by trade of performance this season?

1:59

Brad Johnson: Not really. The White Sox aren’t contending so they won’t want to ruin Robertson’s value mid-contract

1:59

Dr. Met: Aside from the Mets, which teams are absolutely that hapless vs. lefty starters?

1:59

Brad Johnson: Braves, Phillies come to mind

2:00

Brad Johnson: I’ll have a link in 10 seconds

2:00

Brad Johnson: Page loaded slow…

2:00

Jeremy: Can you rank the following OF keepers (12 tm 6×6 w OBP/SLG): Dahl, Benintendi, Kepler, Judge

2:00

Brad Johnson: You’ve done it for me

2:01

Brad Johnson: Plenty of others would prefer Judge to Kepler fwiw. I like Kepler more

2:01

Brad Johnson: at least for now

2:01

Brad Johnson: if Judge keeps hitting, I may change my mind

2:01

Mark: Looking to trade Dellin Betance for an SP before our deadline this Friday in a H2H, 5×5 league. What kind of value does Dellin have moving forward? Elite reliever and what kind of tier should I target for him? Is a guy like Jason Hammel enough? Maybe Cole Hamels?

2:02

Brad Johnson: Yea those smell reasonable assuming you’re getting actual value out of them. Pay attention to how much it helps your rival

2:02

Brad Johnson: if he’s gaining five points in SVs+ratios, then he should be trading you five points in other categories.

2:02

Karl Cheez: Should I trade Bryce Harper for Mookie Betts in a keep forever points league?

2:02

Brad Johnson: I think I would

2:02

Dr. Met: More relevance ROS and 2017, Teoscar or Keon ?

2:02

Brad Johnson: Teoscar

2:03

Brad Johnson: I don’t really think Keon is a MLBer. Hernandez might be.

2:03

Tom: Looking to replace Choo at my UTIL. Who do you like best between Lind, Rua and Franklin?

2:03

Brad Johnson: Teoscar Hernandez

2:04

Brad Johnson: The three you listed are all part timers. There have to be some full time options

2:04

Brad Johnson: Jake Smolinski maybe?

2:04

twinmh: With the success of Cheslor Cuthbert, and a re-invigorated Hunter Dozier in AAA, should the Royals trade Moustakas this winter? Keep hearing they’ll be squeezed anyway when Hosmer/Duffy/Cain/Mous reach FA.

2:04

Brad Johnson: They’d be selling low, I doubt they’d find it profitable

2:04

Jake from State Farm: Sonny Gray got dropped in my AL Dynasty league. He would cost $22 to keep into next year, should I rush to pick him up?

2:04

Brad Johnson: eh, depends on your opportunity cost

2:05

Brad Johnson: if you’re rebuild and have tons of cap space, sure, take a flier

2:05

Brad Johnson: if you’re already a little crammed, you’ll be fine without him

2:05

Avi: What would a fair value be for Darvish and Gordon in a 14 team 6 keeper (1 RP, 1 SP required) league.

2:06

Brad Johnson: Missing a lot of context so hard to say. I’d aim big like a top 10-30 hitter

2:06

Lefty: When Cam Bedrosian comes off the DL, does he step back into the closer role? Whether he comes back this year or next

2:06

Brad Johnson: Might depend on Street. If he’s back first and doesn’t blow games, Bedrosian will go to the eighth

2:06

Dungeon Master: I paid heavily to get Buxton in a dynasty league a few years ago, do I try to cash out while he has some semblance of his former prospect shine, or wait to see if he pans out ?

2:07

Brad Johnson: Wait

2:07

Brad Johnson: If people come asking, place a top overall prospect valuation on him

2:07

Brad Johnson: and if nobody will pay, then ride him into the ground

2:07

Brad Johnson: if you solicit offers, it devalues him

2:08

Guest: Context cause this is league specific. In my league we get 6 keepers for pretty big rosters, keepers are divided by tiers, you can get 1 tier 1, 2 tier 2’s and 3 tier 3 (tier’s are decided by draft position and set as long as you keep them) You can move guys up but not down. Right now I have Nolan Arenado as my tier 1 locked in so that’s not changing. Tier 2 I have to choose between Daniel Murphy, Yelich and Posey. It’s a points league, based loosely on the linear run estimator weights, and Murphy and Yelich are drastically ahead of Posey, and I’m worried about Posey being a 30 year old catcher who has been knicked up this year. Is catcher so bad I should let go of one of those two or take my chances drafting another one next year.

2:08

Brad Johnson: reading….

2:09

Brad Johnson: So the thing with a lw points format is it’s really about positional replacement level

2:09

Brad Johnson: just making up some numbers here – let’s say Posey is 500 points, Murph/Yelich are 800 points. If C replacement is 250 and 2B/OF replacement is 700, then Posey is the more valuable keeper

2:10

Brad Johnson: so it’s up to you to figure that out.

2:10

Brad Johnson: Additionally, I’m not sure I’d bet on a second career season from Murphy. Regress his numbers a healthy amount towards career norms before making a decision

2:11

JD15: Thanks for answering. I only had a free minute to input my questions so sorry for bombarding.

2:11

Brad Johnson: apology accepted

2:11

George is Curious: You mentioned Jharel Cotton. What do you expect from him both in terms of this year and next?

2:12

Brad Johnson: Honestly, I’m just seeing rumbles that he could be called up. My last deep dive on him was a month ago, I forget exactly what I concluded

2:12

Brad Johnson: the general feeling was meh

2:12

Brad Johnson: I think there was something in the scouting report that made me doubt he’d transition well the MLB

2:13

Defectation: I’m in a 15 tm roto (redraft) and I need pitching. Is Jake Lamb too much to give up for Quintana? I’ve got Gurriel on the bench. Should I try to move for Salazar instead. Might be able to swap Kepler for him.

2:13

Brad Johnson: Lamb is a steep price when the back up could be terrible or barely play

2:13

Brad Johnson: or good

2:13

Brad Johnson: Gurriel’s just a complete wild card right now

2:13

Brad Johnson: Salazar’s a tough buy because of the elbow

2:13

Brad Johnson: might throw 2 IP on thursday and be done for the year

2:14

Deke: Any hope for Arismendy Alcantara to succeed as an above-avg player in OAK, or has that ship sailed? Thanks!

2:14

Brad Johnson: sailed and over the horizon

2:14

Brad Johnson: Obviously, sometimes these busts suddenly sail back to shore (to stick with the metaphor)

2:14

Brad Johnson: that would require a change in talent

2:14

Jamie Sayer: Has Matt Shoemaker regressed back into his pumpkin form? I know Scioscia said his stuff was just as good, but is he still a decent option ROS?

2:15

Brad Johnson: Honestly, I haven’t taken a close look at him lately. I’d need to watch a couple of his starts. The splitter can come and go so I’ll admit I’m concerned.

2:15

Jeff: Dynasty league, have Conforto, G Polanco, Piscotty and Winker but can only keep two. Looking for batting average more than power. Who should I keep?

2:15

Brad Johnson: Polanco/Piscotty

2:15

Other Matt: Looking at keepers – is it nuts to think Didi is the better asset than Profar?

2:15

Brad Johnson: No, it’s not – at least in the near term

2:16

Brad Johnson: Profar is much younger

2:16

Brad Johnson: much higher ceiling if he can stay healthy

2:16

Mark: Hernan Perez going to keep up his current pace?

2:16

Brad Johnson: newp

2:17

Brad Johnson: He’s a 85-90 wRC+ super utility guy with enough park-aided power and speed to be fantasy useful

2:17

Brad Johnson: but his current pace is quite a bit beyond that

2:18

Karl Cheez: Is Andrew Miller worth starting over Diaz now that it seems Miller is going to be used situationally in CLE?

2:18

Brad Johnson: you really can’t start them both? Those are two of the top 5 RP RoS

2:18

Dungeon Master: Jonathan Schoop or Devon Travis for dynasty 2B?

2:18

Brad Johnson: Travis please

2:18

Baller McCheese: Curious as to how you see Taillon’s value for 2017? In a “typical” league & non-auction draft, would he be top 75 player?

2:19

Brad Johnson: That might be a good spot to open the betting – somewhere around #75-100.

2:19

Brad Johnson: Where was Marcus Stroman this year?

2:19

wayne: If chasing counting cats in H2H playoffs (HR, R, RBI, SB, W, K) how would you be splitting up 6 bench spots between SPs and (say) mon/thurs game hitters. Daily moves and 2x week waiver adds.

2:20

Brad Johnson: Assess the opponent first

2:20

Brad Johnson: obviously you want to target actually vulnerable stats

2:20

Brad Johnson: as an extreme example, if they had 6 Kershaw, you probably go after saves and all the hitting cats

2:21

Brad Johnson: there isn’t an ideal split in a vacuum, just depends on opponent, your roster, and who has 2 starts that week

2:21

Brad Johnson: and matchups

2:21

Hannah Hochevar: Hi Brad. Could you put an AL-Only price on next year’s Xander Bogey? Thanks

2:21

Brad Johnson: That would be a very blind shot in the dark

2:22

Brad Johnson: I haven’t made an AL-Only sheet in several years.

2:22

Brad Johnson: Maybe try Paul on Thursday

2:22

Flo: Holding onto Ryan Dull is getting rather….Dull. Should I keep hanging onto him in the event he gets some saves the rest of the season? Or keep him into next year at the minimum ($3)

2:22

Brad Johnson: Doesn’t look like they plan to get him saves this year. I’m sure the plan is for Doolittle to take the job once he’s healthy

2:22

Andrew Benintendi: What kind of numbers am I posting in 2017?

2:22

Brad Johnson: good ones?

2:23

Brad Johnson: I’ll say 15/12 with a .290/.350/.450 slash

2:23

Brad Johnson: just to be conservative

2:23

Brad Johnson: if he’s playing every day, he almost has to outperform those counting stats

2:24

Brad Johnson: but the every day bet might not work out

2:24

Seth: jd martinez at $27 or david peralta at $9? 16 team 5×5, playing/keeping for next year

2:24

Brad Johnson: JDM for me

2:24

fool me once: are we really trusting Davis to come back and close effectively again this year? I have to activate him immediately when Royals do and Herrera would be my only dropper…

2:24

Brad Johnson: Oh I’m not

2:24

Brad Johnson: that’s a painful situation. I’d bet on the healthy guy

2:25

Patrick: Time to move on from Shoemaker? Strikeouts down, hits and ERs up. Starting to panic. 10 tm AL Keeper

2:25

Brad Johnson: I’m starting to be concerned too. He’s lost the feel for his splitter in the past…

2:25

Dumpster Fiers: Need an Of in 20 team points league: Go with Austin, or more estblashied guy like Grandy, Gardner or C. Dickerson?

2:25

Brad Johnson: Austin or Grandy

2:25

Moltar: My league does a hybrid auction/snake, where the top 20 non-kept players are auctioned off and then everybody else gets drafted with a set salary. A pretty good compromise system.

2:26

Brad Johnson: That’s in reference to an earlier question about transitioning from snake to auction. There are a thousand ways to set up a hybrid. Requires a lot of manual commish work on most sites

2:27

Dungeon Master: Keeping Mazara for next year…What do you think of Mazara as a OF2 in mixed leagues going forward? Could we see .300 and 30 soon? Decent lineup and park so should have good counting R/RBI as well I’d hope.

2:27

Brad Johnson: The GB profile is a little bit like Yelich-lite.

2:27

Brad Johnson: Not sure we’ll see 30 HR

2:27

Brad Johnson: Otherwise, yea, I expect big things out of the middle of the lineup

2:27

Deke: With the promotion of Austin/shuffling of McCann’s time behind the dish, does Greg Bird get significant playing time in NY next season (assuming healthy)?

2:28

Brad Johnson: Yea they probably find him time. Austin is playing now to assess how to use him later, not because he’s already locked up a long term role

2:28

Ryan: Should I be running out to pick up Jharel Cotton in my AL-only league right now?

2:28

Brad Johnson: Not sure I’d run but if I had an open spot…

2:28

Moltar: Traded for Cabrera at the deadline (which was sunday), he immediately gets hurt monday. No question, I just want to tell somebody who might a little bit care.

2:29

Brad Johnson: My worst of these happened last year. I had all the pitching and needed hitting

2:29

Brad Johnson: traded Kerhsaw for Stanton

2:29

Brad Johnson: Three days later…

2:29

Sean: Where do you see Dylan Bundy being ranking among SPs to start 2017?

2:29

Brad Johnson: Probably higher than he should be. The hype machine has always liked him

2:29

Brad Johnson: Probably around wherever Fulmer and Musgrove wind up

2:30

Brad Johnson: still a lot of baseball to left to change all that

2:30

El Chubbito: Raisel Iglesias is the guy in the Cincy ninth, no?

2:30

Brad Johnson: I can’t figure out what they’re doing

2:30

Brad Johnson: I mean he’s obviously their best reliever

2:30

Brad Johnson: it’s glaringly obvious

2:30

Brad Johnson: it’s like choosing between Chapman and Spaceman Lee

2:31

Brad Johnson: but…I thought the idea was to leave him out of the ninth so there wouldn’t be a controversy a la Chapman

2:31

Brad Johnson: Remember, Chapman was always supposed to go back to starting

2:31

Brad Johnson: but he was so good at closing that he just couldn’t be moved

2:32

Brad Johnson: Plus Iglesias has already succeeded as a starter so there should be less pain in transitioning back

2:32

Pete: Joey Gallo was dropped in my AL-only dynasty league. Is he a must-add anymore?

2:32

Brad Johnson: in a dynasty, probably

2:32

Brad Johnson: just remember he’s a lotto ticket

2:32

Brad Johnson: you may wind up wanting a surer thing later

2:32

Tony G.: So are we looking at Teoscar making Houston’s 2017 starting lineup?

2:32

Brad Johnson: outside chance. Based on roster comp now, sure

2:33

Brad Johnson: but I assume they buy a real CFer

2:33

Brad Johnson: hernandez looks like an ideal 3.5 OFer to me

2:33

Brad Johnson: there are a lot of questions to answer about Houston’s roster and they’re all interrelated

2:34

Brad Johnson: If Gurriel sticks, then Bregman’s pushed to LF, which means Kemp/Teoscar/Marisnick and gang up on CF

2:34

Brad Johnson: if Gurriel sucks, then Bregman stays at 3B

2:34

Brad Johnson: or something could happen at the 1B logjam

2:34

Brad Johnson: Correa might get moved to 3B for Bregman to go to SS

2:35

Brad Johnson: Basically, we know Altuve is the 2B

2:35

I’m not your buddy, Guyer: Weird question. I’m #1 in hitting, middling in pitching and down to my last 5 transactions in my deep H2H league where I know I’ll get streamed against in the playoffs. Currently stashing Gurriel. Better off holding onto him or dropping for 1 of: Bud Norris, Kuhl, C. Green, or T. Khoeler?

2:35

Brad Johnson: Hold those moves until they’re most important

2:35

rustydude: Who’s your early top 3 fantasy players for next year’s draft?

2:35

Brad Johnson: Trout, Altuve, Betts

2:35

Brad Johnson: not positive on the order yet

2:36

Brad Johnson: Probably the two OF first

2:36

Brad Johnson: then a bunch of #B

2:36

Brad Johnson: 3B*

2:36

Allen Crowe: Who has better outlook for RBI and OPS in StL rest of season: Moss or Piscotty?

2:36

Brad Johnson: Piscotty

2:36

Brad Johnson: They both solid mid-order guys

2:36

Ezra Klein: Do you believe Lucas Giolito is a keeper in a keep 6? Do you think he will start next year in the Nats rotation?

2:37

Brad Johnson: Sounds to shallow to be keeping him

2:37

Brad Johnson: Giolito is a project for fantasy owners. Expect the breakout to take time

2:37

Brad Johnson: Aaron Sanchez can be used as a yard stick

2:37

Kevin: Dahl vs Benintendi: Which would you keep for 2 years and which for 5 years? 12 team, roto, with limited keepers.

2:37

Brad Johnson: Dahl and Dahl

2:37

Brad Johnson: it’s all about Coors Field

2:38

Brad Johnson: I’m going to skip to the present for the stretch run of the chat. Less volume today than usual so I went in order up to now

2:39

Stannis: Does Blake Snell start next season in Rays rotation? If so, how do you see him doing next year

2:39

Brad Johnson: Definitely, pending health

2:39

Brad Johnson: It’s a tough division – rich teams, bad matchups, worse ballparks

2:39

Brad Johnson: I’ll say 4.00 ERA, good K rate, some meltdowns, some gems

2:40

Stuck in a Slump: Brad, do you have any hope for Cashner for this year or next? Eno’s latest The Change article has his fastball looking really bad.

2:40

Brad Johnson: Cashner flashed for a brief moment at the deadline, but it was the proverbial flash in the pan

2:40

Brad Johnson: I’ve been out on Cashner for years. Nothing’s changed aside from the occasional spot start

2:41

Daren: What’s a good trade return for Danny Salazar this offseason? I think I can still market him as a good #2.

2:41

Brad Johnson: yea that’s how I’ll be marketing him

2:41

Brad Johnson: we’ll see what happens starting Thursday and on

2:41

Bjorn: What’s a reasonable return in a trade right now for Puig in a dynasty format?

2:41

Brad Johnson: Fortunately, I’ve divested myself of Puigs

2:41

Brad Johnson: I have no hope for his future

2:42

Brad Johnson: no contact skills, no power, no speed, I just don’t get what he has to work with

2:42

Brad Johnson: it started as plus quality of contact and modest power, but that’s gone

2:42

Brad Johnson: you have to find somebody who still believe he can breakout then pretend you still love puig too

2:43

Brad Johnson: maybe then you can get a decent mid-tier player. Can also go for a big older name like Bautista

2:43

Kevin : I have both Segura and Odor in my 14-team keeper. Which profile would you rather have at 2B for the next 3-5 years?

2:43

Brad Johnson: Odor

2:43

Brad Johnson: And I’m not a big Odor advocate – there’s a lot about his game I don’t like

2:43

Brad Johnson: I see Segura’s 2016 as 110% of his ceiling

2:43

Brad Johnson: He’ll usually be more like his 2015

2:44

Ya Habibi: Start Strasburg in Colorado tomorrow?

2:44

Brad Johnson: Do ya need to? It could work. It might not. #Analysis

2:44

Brad Johnson: So decide if you really need those innings

2:44

Stuck in a Slump: Grandal has been hitting the absolute crap out of the ball lately, is this some natural regression given how much harder he seems to hit the ball than the average hitter, or is it just a hot streak to ignore?

2:45

Brad Johnson: He’s not going to keep hitting at this rate, but you shouldn’t ignore it

2:45

Brad Johnson: he’s a really good hitter in his own unique way

2:45

Pete: Is Zimmer starting for Cleveland in 2017?

2:45

Brad Johnson: Pending his Sept. call up

2:45

Brad Johnson: which is pending healing from this finger injury

2:45

Drewser: Is Bauer a hold in a 12-team, 25-man (9 P) league? Or is he simply a stream option? Top SPs on waivers are Smyly, Shoemaker, Chen, Shipley, Griffin.

2:46

Brad Johnson: He’s same talent level as Smyly and Shoe

2:46

Brad Johnson: you can stream

2:46

Toki: Has Segura turned a corner this season? Is he a top 200 player going forward?

2:46

Brad Johnson: sure, put him in the top 200. Some will look at him as a top 100 which is going too far

2:46

Jim: AJ Reed start next year?

2:46

Brad Johnson: depends on the rest of this year and next spring and how he’s doing in-season

2:46

Brad Johnson: My guess is…no

2:47

Daniel: Porcello finally a top 30 starter?

2:47

Brad Johnson: Not in a sustainable sense

2:47

Brad Johnson: doesn’t have the Ks to pay for him at that rate

2:47

Brad Johnson: he has been a top 30 guy this year, top 40 next draft season.

2:47

Kevin : Anything to see with Austin Hedges’ AAA #s. Catcher-deprived in my keeper…

2:48

Brad Johnson: I’m a big Hedges fan. Made some adjustments which manifested in the power. Still, he has a hitter friendly environment

2:48

Brad Johnson: expect maybe Cameron Rupp-ish numbers

2:48

Rags: Pardon the repeat question but I guess my question got skipped in the jump to the present? In an NL only OBP league, who do you like better ROS: Parra or Pham? Thanks!

2:49

Brad Johnson: Tricky one

2:49

Brad Johnson: Parra’s semi-blocked unless he goes to play 1B (or CarGo does)

2:49

Brad Johnson: Pham plays somewhat irregularly

2:49

Brad Johnson: I’ll go with Pham, but my gut says I’m dumb to pick against Coors

2:49

Ben: Lucroy #1 catcher next year?

2:50

Brad Johnson: still Posey for me

2:50

Brad Johnson: Lucroy’s always been a close second though

2:50

Brad Johnson: like him even more in the AL where he can DH instead of 1B

2:50

Mystery Team: Other side of the spectrum: I traded rich hill, he has thrown 5 pitches since

2:50

Stuck in a Slump: Could we get a Kipnis or Tulo article some time soon? Tulo has really been a lot better since the ASB, and Kipnis has just been really, really good all year, but no one seems to be talking about either player.

2:50

Brad Johnson: I’ll ask folks on slack

2:51

Kit: Best SS rest of season between these: Jorge Polanco, Didi Gregorius, Jhonny Peralta, or Marcus Semien

2:51

Brad Johnson: Semien, Polanco/Gregorius, Peralta?

2:51

Brad Johnson: basically all the same asset class

2:51

Brad Johnson: very different distribution of stats though

2:51

Brad Johnson: so decide what numbers you need and target those

2:51

Dan: Drop Mccann for Contreras in a 10 team roto if I need avg?

2:52

Brad Johnson: I don’t know that a 40 point bump in C AVG is going to move the needle

2:52

Brad Johnson: ok, time to wrap up

2:52

Nate: Jake Lamb a legit .270/ 30 HR threat moving forward?

2:52

Brad Johnson: yep

2:52

Stuck in a Slump: Any concern with Ozuna’s slump the past 30 days?

2:53

Brad Johnson: sure, I’ve never had a good read on him as a player. Kept my distance as a result

2:53

BLess: 12 team mixed, keep 7 – Giles($10) or Saunders ($10) worth keeping? – $360 cap, 25 man active roster, 7 bench

2:53

Brad Johnson: Giles probably

2:53

Brad Johnson: be prepared to wait through a crappy April. He’s done it twice now

2:53

Tim: Todd Frazier ever gonna raise his AVG? Seems to be stuck in the low 200s

2:53

Brad Johnson: doubt it

2:53

Brad Johnson: just who he is as a hitter

2:53

George: Where do you rank Wil Myers overall next season? Top 10 fantasy player?

2:53

Brad Johnson: not top 10 for me

2:54

Brad Johnson: no supporting cast. Tends to introduce a lot of downside

2:54

Stuck in a Slump: Also, could we get some articles about the Indian’s offense? It’s insane how great they’ve been since the ASB, they lead the majors in a ton of offensive categories, but again, not mention of them over on the fangraphs side, or really even a whisper of them here

2:54

Brad Johnson: I’ve seen some Indians stuff

2:54

Brad Johnson: when in doubt, check August’s author page

2:55

Avi: Has Brantley regressed to the point where he is now the new Grady Sizemore? Or can 2017 have some value.

2:55

Brad Johnson: He could recover. Interesting buy low option. We’ll see just how low people let him go

2:55

Stuck in a Slump: why haven’t we seen Margot or even more curious, Josh Bell this year? And why do the Blue Jays hate Pompey so much?

2:56

Brad Johnson: Margot = player control

2:56

Brad Johnson: we won’t see him until late-April

2:56

Brad Johnson: well, maybe we’ll see him in Sept. which could change things

2:56

Brad Johnson: the Padres want to fully evaluate Jankowski and Dickerson

2:56

Brad Johnson: Bell doesn’t have a defensive position. They have nowhere to play him

2:57

Brad Johnson: Pompey isn’t really hitting

2:57

Brad Johnson: though he has to be better than Lake/Cecilliani

2:57

Brad Johnson: I guess they don’t want to yo-yo him from MLB to minors over and over

2:57

Brad Johnson: ok, 30 second blitz time

2:57

Phil: Off topic but. . .Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad

2:57

Brad Johnson: GoT

2:57

Nate: Is Cutch toast? Have him in a keeper….cross my fingers and pray for next year that he bounces back?

2:57

Brad Johnson: maybe a dead cat in there

2:58

Eat A Snickers Johnny: What should I do with Alex Reyes? I need SP help. Is he stuck in the pen for the rest of the year? Or should I drop him for some middle of the road starter to get a warm SP arm in my lineup.

2:58

Brad Johnson: stuck

2:58

Vic Romano: What’s the outlook on Willson Contreras for the next couple years? Seems like a borderline option for a 12 team 10 keeper league…

2:58

Brad Johnson: keeper

2:58

Mystery Team: Rank for next year points: Rizzo Harper Stanton
