David Wiers had to leave his apartment yesterday to discover the meaning of life, so here I am, wearing his skin in front of the internet.

Various news and notes
Matt Kemp is now out for the season with a torn tendon in one of his fingers. Kemp ends his first season as a Padre with a .265/.312/.443 line, including 23 homers and 12 steals, reaching the 100 RBI mark for the first time since 2011. Kemp’s defense still grades out as laughable, but the Padres are pretty well committed to his services next year, and that funny business doesn’t count in fantasy baseball. Kemp’s biggest enemy will always be his health, but he’s had two straight seasons of at least 150 games, and will look to add a third in 2016.
You can add Felix Hernandez to the list of players shut down for the year. Felix doesn’t really have a specific ailment, but he has been battling various dings all season. Felix was trying to record his seventh straight 200 IP / 200 K season, but alas, he will not get the chance, and his streak will be broken. By ERA, Felix had his worst season since 2007, and his worst WHIP since 2011. There was a slight dip in velocity this season, but nothing to be overly concerned about.
Yoenis Cespedes isn’t officially out for the year yet, but with bruises on his left hand, odds are the Mets will keep him out until the postseason.
In likely his final start as a member of the Nationals, Jordan Zimmermann turned in six innings of work, striking out just one and allowing two earned runs. Heading into his age-30 season, it will be worth monitoring the ballpark and defense Zimmermann ends up pitching to.
Streaming Pitcher Options
If you enjoy streaming pitchers or play DFS, tune into the Roto Riteup for recommendations each and every day.
A pitcher for today: Kris Medlen at CHW (John Danks)
There aren’t many solid, value options for today, so roll with Medlen even though he’s on the road.
A pitcher for tomorrow: Mark Buehrle at TB (Erasmo Ramirez)
If the Blue Jays have begun to rest some of their starters, this could actually be the right day to switch over to Erasmo’s side.
