Roto Riteup: September 24, 2013

Almost 13 years ago the pop-punk band New Found Glory released their self titled album. It marked a huge event for the then 13-year-old author and to this day tracks such as Hit Or Miss or Dressed To Kill can still be sung — without a care for tone or pitch — from memory.

On today’s agenda:
1. Yordano Ventura can get strikeouts
2. Neil Walker flashes the power
3. Joe Mauer is done for the year
4. Thoughts on Marco Estrada

Roto Riteup: September 21, 2013

Today’s Roto Riteup is being written in the wake of a 12-hour work shift. Exhaustion is something that can be cured by good craft beers, right?

On today’s agenda:
1. The return of Jason Heyward
2. Welcome back, David Wright
3. Hanley Ramirez to miss some time
4. Stephen Strasburg to start today

Four days from today will mark the 23rd anniversary of the classic film Goodfellas. The trailer, as good as it is (warning: language, violence, etc.), scarcely does the film justice.

1. Another rough outing for CC Sabathia
2. Johnny Cueto’s looming return
3. A strong finish for Denard Span?

Today is Friday the 13th. If you happen to be the superstitious type, or maybe one that happens to believe in hokey religions, just know that Han Solo thinks otherwise.

On today’s agenda:

2. Another week in the boot for Allen Craig
3. Mark Reynolds keeps hitting

Roto Riteup: September 10, 2013

Two days ago Jim Carey tweeted a certain picture that has the present author brimming with excitement. The mere prospect of what is being called Dumb and Dumber To being filmed is cause for celebration. The movie already has a pre-production IMDB page — not to mention an entire generation of fans waiting for a sequel to a film that had such amazing moments like this.

On today’s agenda:
1. Alex Rodriguez keeps hitting
2. An end to Ike Davis‘ season
3. Josmil Pinto’s hot start

For no particular reason, here is Rhymefest’s sample of Build Me Up Buttercup (warning: language). It is quite different than the original version. Of all the rap song that have sampled other tracks, the Ninjasonik cover of Daylight (another language warning), originally by Matt and Kim, is quite possibly the catchiest of them all. That is, at least in the present author’s non-expert and humble opinion. Other suggestions via the comment section is encouraged.

On today’s agenda:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury’s injury
2. Matt Cain’s return
3. A power trip from Andrelton Simmons

Today is “Neither Rain Nor Snow Day.” The present author’s feelings on snow — despite living in Michigan the vast majority of his life — can best be summed up by Harvey the mailman from Hey Arnold.

On today’s agenda:
1. Scott Kazmir’s excellent start
2. David Robertson sidelined
3. More bad news for Matt Kemp
4. Three Oh Three and Billy Hamilton
