2015 End of Season Rankings: Shortstops
The 2015 fantasy baseball season has come to a close, so it is time to look back at the season past and determine which players were the most valuable at each position. After looking at third basemen last week, we finish off the infield by focusing on shortstops.
The players were ranked based on their 2015 production, using the evaluation system explained and updated on this site some time ago. The valuations are built for $260 budgets and standard 5×5 roto fantasy leagues, where only one catcher is started. Players are listed only at their primary positions from 2015.
One important thing to note is the premium (or lack thereof) placed on the position a player occupies in your lineup. For example, while a first baseman may be able to accumulate superior overall numbers, the availability of such production lower in the rankings severely dampers the amount the player was worth. These rankings are meant to reflect a player’s value should he have occupied this spot in your lineup for the entire year. A player who missed time due to injury but put up great numbers during his time on the field would be worth less.
With all this in mind, here are your rankings.

Hey Zach, will there be a detailed analysis of Lindor’s crazy season? Is there reason to believe that he’ll be able to sustain at least 80% of his rookie production going forward, or was it just a crazy good year for a guy who’s going to hit more like Simmons from here on out?
Have you read Kiley’s scouting report? He has Lindor having a 60 hit tool, a good eye, and the ability to hit the ball hard. He might not have ARod’s power, but the kid can hit.
I’ve seen the grades, but not the actual report, but one of the frequent comps that I heard was Omar Vizquel or ‘a little bit better than’ Omar Vizquel. Frankly, Frankie just topped Vizquel’s best wRC+, and put up a season that would have easily been Vizquel’s second best and if he kept up his pace to match Vizquel’s best season in which he played 144 games, he would have topped him by 0.7 fWAR.
Not to mention that Steamer is calling for a .269/.319/.391 line, which feels a bit light, but not so much so that I feel that I can completely ignore it. Let’s face it, Kiley had Lindor at a 40 hit tool and 30 game power, but he easily hit better than his projected 60 ceiling and instead hit closer to 75 hit and a 45-50 power.
