Thanks ! Good work! Good to have some baseball content. By the way I’m super high on Michael King. Just wondering how probable you think it is that he becomes a top 10 SP?
Degrom is hard to judge
If you just take his plus stats he was 143/110/122 on stuff/location/pitching
For comparison the qualified leaders where rodon (122), mikolas (109), wheeler (108).
He essentially both had best location and stuff rating and by a huge margin, degroms lead over the qualified leader in each of the 3 stats is larger than the gap between the qualified leader and number 20 in that category.
By that degrom is like a standard deviation better than anyone else, he is like peak LeBron vs the league.
On the other hand we don’t know how durable he will be. He could legitimately be 30 innings away from his career being over if there is another injury.
Every pitcher is risky but I’m really scared of drafting degrom that high, you kinda need some volume floor that high and also how high is his innings ceiling? Everyone could get injured but is there any chance he goes higher than 130 or so?
Man, what’s frustrating with Yamamoto is he was supposed to be the guy least injury prone. He had all those stretches and flexibility exercises as part of his routine. And then he had that shoulder injury that took forever. Maybe the Dodgers were handling him with extreme kid gloves because he was so expensive, but it’s just so disappointing compared to the marketing.
