As I mentioned yesterday, I have an early game today, so let’s dispose of section one. If you have some of those squalling small things we call children, then milk this “holiday” for all it’s worth.

2. Daily DFS

Early: A full 10 games fit in the Sunday early contest category.

I’m 1-for-2 on these Tigers versus mediocre Twins righties matchups. Let’s try to go 2-for-3 with Ricky Nolasco on this hill.

Daisuke Matsuzaka has the potential to throw a real stinker. He’s returned good results despite a sky high walk rate.

The matchup between J.A. Happ and Chris Tillman has the potential for fireworks. I prefer to target the Blue Jays’ side of the affair.

The rare Royals stack might be in play today against Andre Rienzo. Or maybe you should just stick to higher octane offenses.

Late: Five games will be played late.

The Athletics have a few right-handed counters to mediocre lefties like Vidal Nuno. Use them.

Juan Nicasio isn’t a top notch target at AT&T Park, but he’s still plenty hittable.

Despite suffering through the injury bug, the Mariners have a few left-handed bats to use against Nicholas Martinez.

The top matchup of the day is the Atlanta Braves versus Hector Santiago. Unfortunately, it’s the late game. You may need to play this one blind or skip it altogether.

3. Monday Picks

We have 11 games tomorrow for the Monday travel day.

Pitchers to Start: I’ve been avoiding Jason Hammel due to some funkiness in his peripherals. Over time, the funk has converted to conventional good performance. As a bonus, he’ll face the Marlins in Miami.

Wei-Yin Chen’s command and control style should hold up well against the Tampa Bay Rays. They don’t have too many terrifying right-handed hitters. On the other side of that matchup, Jake Odorizzi has been quietly dealing for about a month.

Drew Pomeranz might be viable against the Texas Rangers. Just be wary, his 1.90 ERA is offset by a 4.10 FIP.

I’m hesitant to make my usual Brandon McCarthy recommendation on account of the Brewer’s power. But they’re also very right-handed so they could roll over for McCarthy.

Pitchers to Exploit: Hittable is the word best used to describe Kevin Correia. Putinplayable is an even more made up word that applies to Correia. He’ll face the Red Sox middle grade offense at Fenway.

Colby Lewis will need to be on top of his game to survive a very potent Athletics lineup.

Hitters (power): Seth Smith is surprisingly under-owned for a mid-lineup hitter with power. Even if his lineup is the San Diego Padres. He’ll face Chris Young tomorrow.

John Jaso doesn’t fit anywhere in this column, but he’s still playable as a high OBP catcher.

Sean Rodriguez will have the platoon advantage tomorrow.

J.D. Martinez is worth a look against Jason Vargas if he plays.

Hitters (speed): Drew Stubbs and maybe Brandon Barnes will probably start against Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Similarly to Martinez, if Davis is in, he’s a smart play.

Leadoff man Brock Holt is a strong play against Correia.

4. Table

The table below indicates which stadiums have the best conditions for hitters today. The color coding is a classic stoplight where green equals go for hitters. The weather conditions are from SI Weather’s home run app. A 10/10 means great atmospheric conditions for home runs. A 1/10 means lousy atmospheric conditions.

Games in Chicago and St. Louis have a chance for isolated thunderstorms. It’s just a 20 to 30 percent chance.
